A very nice copy of T C Lethbridge's excellent survey around the 'witch cult' of an ancient religion centred on a Mother Goddess. This is the scarce 1962 Citadel US first edition. Pages are very good: apart from a neat inscription on FEP (see photos), they are clean, bright, unmarked and unfoxed (rarely in this edition). Remnant of a sticker on the pastedown. Binding tight. Green and blue boards are excellent. DJ is clipped but is very good: the most minor shelf wear and slight tanning/rubbing here and there. Spine not faded. Altogether excellent. A very nice copy of the first edition (1950) of Tabori's biography of ghost hunter Harry Price. Tabori looks extensively into the life and legend that was Price and his work. VG+/VG- condition. Pages are absent of any inscriptions or notable markings. Only the most slight natural age wear but no foxing or similar marks or spotting: pages are excellent. Boards are clean and tight. Slightest give to spine but no noticeable impact of such. DJ is unclipped and intact: a previous owner has covered it in a form plastic tape-wrapper. This is not a removable covering, however neither is it attached to the book, only to the wrapper itself for protection. A few repair strips of white paper are present as part of this and these perform their function by slightly showing through to complete the very few missing nicks in the DJ. An important survey of a significant decade for the field, well handled by Dr Paul Tabori who was literary executor to the late Harry Price.

Excellent copy of Ken Talbot's book on the master forger De Hory. Talbot was De Hory's patron in later years and reexamines de Hory's life and work. De Hory was capable of imitating the twentieth century's masters such as Picasso, Dufy, Modigliani and Matisse. His creations duped dealers, collectors and even the painters themselves. The book tells the story of his journey from studying under Leger, attempts to sell his fakes to the rich of the Americas and Europe, to the fast and lavish living before the inevitable fall. One of the great tricksters of the age whose story is told in an intelligent and interesting way. A really good copy, unusual in this condition. John Taylor was Professor of Mathematics at King's College London, and here he turns a sceptical eye to the paranormal. After an encounter with Uri Geller, Taylor sought to investigate with scientific rigour the claims made by the paranormal community. An absorbing study looking at the big claims of precognition, clairvoyance, psychokinesis and others.

A wonderful copy. In 1974 the London Daily Mirror called Tchernine "one of Britain's most formidable monster hunters", and this is one of her seminal works on the topic. She assembles a range of 'suspects' in her quest to pin down the beast's identity and writes with authority and clarity as she reviews scientific analysis and reports. Includes a list of terms.

A rare copy of Thierens' classic work on the history and meaning of the tarot. This is the first edition from 1930 (date as assumed, no actual date in text which is the case for this edition). Pages very good for their age, just normal age wear and some foxing spots on text edge. No inscriptions or markings seen. Possibly a FEP cut out, though nothing seems missing so potentially just a stub/remnant of paper. Original errata slip still present at p13. Binding is tight. DJ (rarely present) is very good, no major tears or clippings just a little minor creasing and tanning. Rear DJ cover has a wonderful list of related Rider books from the time. A very nice copy (undated, assumed 1930s) of the rare special edition Psychic Book Club printing of Thomas's book looking at the validity of life after death. Pages are excellent: bright and clear with no markings or inscriptions at all and just minor ageing. Binding tight. A good first edition copy of Thorpe's collection of popular Yule tales and traditions. Pages are generally clean and bright. This was owned by folklorist and author Ruth Manning-Sanders and she has inscribed her name on title page. There are a few light pencil notes in the text which are assumed to be hers and so have been left (eminently removable if desired). Front and back hinges have some semi-detachment, although spine binding remains tight. A few of the advertising pages at the end have come loose. Front and rear inside boards have residue of brown tape presumably used to fix a now removed protective cover. Rest of book seems fine though a little care may be needed. Covers are very good. Philately expert Dr Varro R Tyler has compiled an excellent and detailed study of some of the major philatelic forgers. He provides an insight into their biographical backgrounds as well as their forging methods and purpose, which are diverse. He also provides photographs of their work. A fascinating book.
Book is in very good condition. Pages are intact, clean, unmarked and uncreased and in overall an excellent state. Cloth covers are clean and tight. The dust jacket is unclipped, complete, and in good condition with some general shelf wear and a couple of 1cm tears (though none is missing).
