The dust jacket, now in a new Brodart, has edge wear, chips and some discoloration. Not price clipped ($5.00). The jacket is GOOD MINUS and the book is VERY GOOD++.

Hurst and Company. Hardcover. Very Good. 4 1/2 x 7. The Companion Books" All pages browned from age and the paper seems brittle. Title page has 2 closed tears. Brown cloth with gilt lettering on spine and "The Companion Books" inside gilt logo on the cover. No date given but probably about 1900.

London: Hodder And Stoughton, 1887. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 5 1/4 x 8 1/2. Fourth Thousand" on title page. Unmarked pages, 291 + ads, age toned. The light brown cloth boards are bumped and the spine is darker. A few soiled spots on the front. Gilt lettering and flowers on the front, with branches of leaves. Some small bubbles under the cloth. Same on the spine. I am going to give it a good + because the pages are so nice.

128 pages; neat illustrations throughout! Excerpt "Home and Love and Work to Do" included. Pages have age toned, with some ghost markings. Pictorial boards have soiling, rubbing of corners as well as bumped, and age toning.

I found 1882 in this book on three pages but the publication date is probably about 1885. The pages have 'cut away indexed tabs' for locating specific products etc. An old ownership has been mostly erased but it appears that the date erased was 1887. SOME ILLUSTRATIONS OF MACHINERY ARE FOLD-OUTS. I can find no reference on google except for an ad dated 1887 which mentions the 'formerly' reference in the title. Leatherette boards with gilt title on the front. VERY GOOD ++

Wismar: Hinstorff'sche Hofbuchhandlung, 1896. Hardcover. Very Good. 6 x 8 1/4. 154 pages + 2 of ads; unmarked. Illustrated. Page edges stained red. Top edge near the spine is faded. Green boards show slight rubbing and lower front edge is frayed. Gilt bright as new.
