OCLC shows no holdings. Not in Adams, Herd. A very detailed document concerning a quarantine of cattle from certain areas in Texas, Arkansas and Indian Territory. This was an attempt to contain Texas Fever, which was associated with longhorn cattle driven north by South Texas ranchers. The Texas cattle appeared healthy, but mid-western cattle, including Panhandle animals, allowed to mix with them or to use a pasture recently vacated by the longhorns, became ill and very often died. Farmers called the disease Texas Fever or Texas Cattle Fever because of its connection with Texas cattle. It details areas affected and procedures to allow certain cattle to be imported by rail under specific conditions. An important and interesting document on the measures taken to deal with this problem. Read More
