Adapted from Wikipedia: This compilation is a selection of Laura Gilpin's photographs of the American Southwest and a discussion of her artistic career 7 years after her death in November, 1979. Her specialty was images of Native Americans, particularly the Navajo and Pueblo, in their native settings. This is the last among several previous publications honoring Ms. Gilpin's artistry. Gilpin began taking photographs as a child in Colorado and formally studied photography in New York from 1916 to 1917 before returning to her home in Colorado to continue her career as a professional photographer.
