This book has a new opening chapter, which tries to place the Puritans' ideas about the family in the larger setting of their ideas about society and human relationships in general. . Also the author has enlarged the discussion of this subject in chapter six to suggest some of the economic as well as political and ecclesiastical functions of the family. etc.
Good condition. Front cover is very good except it has a slight soft crease at bottom corner. Back cover looks like new. Previous owner's name on back side of cover. Price stamp on end paper. There is underlining in first third of the book, otherwise text is clean. Binding is tight. A good reading copy.

This book lives up to it's title. It is full of very short stories - many of them with some humor. Here's a sample: "A young man was one day talking with a lady about some of the ironies of married life. 'I can't imagine anything more dreadful,' said he, 'than for a woman after mending her husband's coat, to find in one of his pockets an old love letter from a former sweetheart.' 'Fortunately that would never happen,' said the lady. 'The woman would find the letter first, and she would not mend the coat.""Fair condition. Green cloth cover originally had a swirl border design with the title and author's name in gold gilt, but most of the gilt has worn off. There is some soiling and much wear to the edges, corners, and spine. There are stains/spots on the closed book page edges. Book - Good condition. At some point parts of the book were exposed to liquid (water, I'd say). There are some page "crinkles", but none of the pages are stuck together and it does not affect the readability of the book. There are some pages with color images and some with black and white illustrations. The book has a tight feeling, but that may be due to the fact that the spine in not cracked. The covers have some "crinkle" too, plus edge/corner wear including hard and soft creases. The text is clean and the binding is good.

Very Good-condition. Black textured cloth over boards with impressed design on front and faded gold gilt text on spine. A little edge/corner wear. Corners are slightly bent. There are some white spots on both covers that did not come off. (They seem almost like white paint drips that were not completely wiped off, but I don't know.) Text is clean and binding is very good.

This book is a tribute to the classic tractor with in-depth coverage of all the famous models, along with many never-before-seen tractors, prototypes, and rare variations. Lots of information, great photographs, historical ads, brochures, and black & white illustrations.Book - Fair condition. This was a Fine condition book, but now has some water damage at the spine area. The first half of the pages have a light water stain that dips down from 1 to 2 inches. The back half of the pages just have a bit of "crinkle" at the top edge near the spine. This is a good readable book. Other than the water stains, there are no marks. There is no mildew or odd smells to the book. Please see photos.Dust Jacket - Fair condition. Actually there is very little wear to the dust jacket; however, the water damage apparently caused the back of the dust jacket to stick, in places, to the back cover of the book. This is the story of Dick Schaefer who joined the Navy on impulse, hoping that he would have some control over his future. He was not fully aware of the increasing military action in Vietnam. His account of his time at boot camp is wry and rollicking. He received orders to report to the US Naval Hospital Corps School, which suited him. He requested assignment to Hawaii, but there was no naval hospital so he was assigned to the Fleet Marine Force for three years.Book - Near Fine condition. I did note though that the bottom corners have been bumped a tiny bit, otherwise no edge/corner wear. There are at least 5 pages that have corner creases that have been straightened out.
