Includes original tipped in Rakocy watercolor sketch, SIGNED in pencil by him (Rakocy ’86), where he has also written “How far into the states did Villa go?” Rakocy, who the El Paso Times called an “art icon” of the southwest, died in 2015.

INSCRIBED on title page “for Elie + Bernie Charles with our warm regards Selden Rodman Carole Cleaver Oakland, NJ 15 April 1979.”Eleanor and Bernard Charles were inducted into the Rockland Community Civil Rights Hall of Fame in 2012. Bernard Charles was the first African American councilman in the Town of Ramapo and Eleanor was a civil rights champion, teacher, and community leader.A nice association.

With the beginning of Pulitzer Prize winner Charles Simic's ownership signature on ffep ("Char"). Simic often wrote himself of food and drink and lived in NH where this Press was located.The first in The City Anthology Series of American Poetry (General Editor David Kherdian). Poets include: Antler, Susan Firer, Jim Gibbons, Morgan Gibson, James Hazard, Dawn Knight, Steven Lewis, Roger Mitchell, Tom Montag, Jim Orvino-Sorcic, Jefry Poniewaz, Martin J. Rosenblum, L. Bruce Rowe, Bob Watt, Suzanne Woods, Katy Wiegner, Celia Young, Karl Young. An impressive collection of Midwest poetry from this New Hampshire press.

Rossner, a teacher at the Bronx High School of Science, provides a strike journal of sorts during the 1968-1969 New York teachers' strike, beginning with the anti-Vietnam demonstrations that "prefigured lines of polarization" that included "left against center and right, peace against war, youth against age, black and Latin poor against white middle-class."

VG+ illustrated stapled wraps, covers with some rubbing and light soiling, otherwise VG+. Roth, one of Southern California’s premiere pinstripers, was perhaps best known in Kustom Kulture circles for his Rat Fink character. Uncommon.

Ruland's first book, about one of the most powerful and ruthless men in Colorado history, John Cleveland Osgood, who "carved a mining empire out of the wilderness and built his famous 'castle' of Cleveholm at Redstone on the Crystal River."

Winter, 1967. Tall Quarto. 56 pp. with Portfolio/1 A Photographic Essay by Peter Schlaifer inside the rear cover. About VG+ overall, with a 4” tear to front cover, creasing and spotting. Laid in is a December 18, 1966 The News and Observer article, “Mag Makes Debut” with picture of Banks reviewing the first issue (Banks is quoted as saying, “We do not expect to make a profit.”). The inaugural issue features work by Nelson Algren, William Stafford, Lewis Lipsitz, and Evan S. Connell, Jr., among others, contains reviews of Pynchon’s The Crying of Lot 49 and Walker Percy’s The Last Gentleman, and capsules of Sylvia Plath’s Ariel, Langston Hughes’s Poems from Black America, and A Poetry Reading Against the Vietnam War. A relatively hard-to-find first issue of this important periodical that ran from 1967-1974.

Early appearance of Alberto Rios (finalist for National Book Award in 2002); other poets include Bukowski friend Gerald Locklin, Kirk Robertson (founder and editor of Scree magazine and Duck Down Press), Michael C. Ford (Kenneth Patchen disciple and co-editor of the journal The Sunset Palms Hotel), Richard Weaver (former editor of The Black Warrior Review), Ronald Koertge, R. Douglas King, Larry Samson, Ryde Sainte-Pierre, Nancy Mairs, Kerry McDermott, Marvin Schwartz, Marvin Brook, Jimm Ingolio, Elliot Fried, and editor RVargas, who describes himself as “a young Chicano poet born and raised in the LA suburbs.” The first three issues were under Tequila Press Poetry Review before changing the name to Tequila Review (1978-1980). Three decades later, Vargas launched The Más Tequila Review in 2010. Uncommon. None in commerce and only 2 found in OCLC (NYPL and Delaware).
