Description:
London: Stanley Paul. First UK edition published by Stanley Paul in 1952. This is a very good copy. The dust wrapper is pretty much complete. There is a tear to the top left hand corner of the front panel. The spine has faded by a shade or two. The back panel is marked. There is minor wear along the edges and corners. It is an extremely fragile wrapper and this is one of the better examples we have handled. The book is in very presentable condition. There is no previous owner's ink. The is some foxing marks to the first few pages and to the text block. Overall a very good copy. This copy is very rare as it has the signature of Alf Ramsey on the front free end paper. The autobiography of England great Alf Ramsey where he discusses his playing days for Spurs and England. He would of course go on to reach sporting immortality by managing England to its world cup victory in 1966. A very rare book to find signed.  . Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1952.

Description:
Methuen. First edition published by Methuen in 1915. This copy is scarce because it is in very near fine condition. It is a superb copy. The boards have very little wear at all. The spine is a shade faded. The book is square with no bumps or wear at all. The pages are clean and without marks. It is a high grade book.  Ransome's first book and his only work of fiction published outside of the Swallows and Amazons series. It is particularly rare to find in first print, with only 1200 printed of which around 300 were ruined. Making this very near fine copy a remarkable survivor. A supernatural novel involving an ancient evil and the quest for eternal life. Lovecraft described the book as "attaining some darkly excellent effects". A very rare book indeed.  . Near Fine. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1915.

Description:
The Olympia Press. London: The Olympia Press, [1965] Small 8vo., black publisher's boards, lettered in silver to spine; in the simple yet effective dust jacket designed by Ian Lee; black endpapers; pp. [iv], 5-208; a near-fine, tight copy, very lightly spotted to just one small portion of the outer edge, along the top corner; slightly compressed to head; with only minor creasing to the dust jacket, and ever-so-slightly toned to upper edge of front panel; a lovely example, otherwise.  First British edition of this pinnacle of erotic fiction, praised by Harold Pinter as 'A remarkable piece of work' and Graham Greene as a rare thing: 'a pornographic book well written and without a trace of obscenity'.  The Story of O first appeared in mysterious circumstances in Paris, 1954, when it was picked up by the Olympia Press. Réage was the pen-name for Anne Desclos, who was born in Rochefort in 1907 and worked as a translator of several works of English fiction,… Read More

Description:
W H Allen. 8vo., original brown publisher's boards, lettered in gilt direct to spine; in the original unclipped dust jacket (£5.95 net), with both upper and lower panels showing photographs of the author; pp. [vi], vii-x, 261, [i], together with numerous black and white photographs throughout; a sturdy example, the pages lightly toned, as ever, light pushing to spine tips and corners; else a very uptogether copy in the near-fine jacket which is a touch creased to extremities, with very marginal toning. First edition. This copy complete with a rather dashing signed black and white photo showing the actor in his breakthrough film, The Curse of the Werewolf. Reed was born in 1938, and made his first screen appearances in the Hammer Horror films of the 1960s. It was Oliver!, however, which shot him to fame in his role as Bill Sikes. He went on to star in numerous productions, with his final performance as the gladiator trainer in Ridley Scott's Gladiator earning him a posthumous BAFTA… Read More

Description:
Cassell. First edition published by Cassell in 1941. This is a very good copy. The fragile wrapper has creasing to the edges and a closed tear to the bottom edge of the front panel. It has the correct price on the spine and is clean. The corners and spine ends have some wear. The book has a previous owners name to the front free end paper and a couple of indentations where someone has written in pencil. The pages have browned particularly to the text blocks with some light spotting. Overall a very good copy.  Drums of evil are beating in Haiti according to the blurb on the back of the dust wrapper - a fu manchu novel in its superbly illustrated jacket.  . Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1941.

Eyre & Spottiswoode. First edition published by Eyre & Spottiswoode in 1969. This copy is rare as it is near fine. The book is also excellent with no foxing, marks or ink. Bernice Ruben's booker prize winning novel from 1969. A rarity to  find as a first edition and in this sort of condition.  . Near Fine. Description:
Viking. First edition published by Viking in 1988. This is a very near fine copy. The jacket is completely unfaded, a very rare attribute with most copies having some sunning at the spine. This copy is the same deep blue tone across all of the jacket. There is tiny amounts of wear to the corner tips. The book is in excellent condition with only a very small handful of tiny flecks to the text block. The copyright page shows a full number line down to 1 as called for, for a first edition. The author Salman Rushdie has signed his name without dedication to the title page. Signed copies have become uncommon in recent times and are scarce in this very near fine condition.  Rushdie's award winning book that has been perceived as blasphemous by some. It has caused controversy and censorship in a handful of countries. Rushdie has been the target of attacks and attempted assassination over it. It was his fourth book where he continued to write within the realms of magic realism. A scarce book… Read More
