Original prospectus for this title, with a specimen page, laid in (previously folded). No markings of any kind inside, no foxing, all tissue guards present. Red cloth boards are complete free of tears and have just a couple of minor discolorations, a strong VG+.

Very good or better -- binding tight, title clear, spotting to the pages with the color plates as usual, very neat (and small) period Christmas inscription, otherwise clean. The paper pastedown illustration on the top board is complete. 262 pp., 13 tipped-in colored illustrations and 67 black and white lithographed illustrations throughout text. Black cloth binding with color illustration affixed to front and title stamped in gold on the spine. The American edition also includes a title page of a sampler in color that is not in the English editions.

Heavy full black cloth slipcase. with some minor general wear., no splits or bumps This is a very pleasing alternative to the flimsy plastic spiral spine that was original to the book. Book is otherwise free of all makrings, tight and clean. Jacket with rubbing to the back pannel (the jacket is made of laid paper so this rubbing is common), otherwise only minor wear, solidly VG or VG+ -- attactive in the protective mylar wrap. A tidy copy of a wonderful classic.

Illustrated with 25 small, figural wood engravings by Robert Ashwin Maynard and Bray, all beautifully handcolored. Bound in full vellum with gilt-stamped spine. Top edge gilt. Attractively housed in a morocco-backed marbled chemise, with matching slipcase. A fine copy of one of the most beautiful books by Gregynog Press. (Harrop 7)
