Peter Arthur Desmond MacCarthy was educated at Rugby and became a notable expert author and teacher of language, phonetics and pronunciation. An attractive pair of books with an interesting provenance.

Rivers are displayed in graduating length in Miles showing theYangtse and Lenesei as the longest and the Potomac and Forth as the shortest. Mountains are organised a mountainous formation, measure in feet, include Dhawalagiri and Ararat. Single page unfolded sheet in excellent, clean condition.

Pp270. This book brings together the biographical details of Heslops life and travels in the 1930's from Durham Pit village to meetings with soviet writers including Nobel winner Mikhail Sholokov. This book a presentation copy from editor Andy Croft to Arnold Rattenbury and his wife Sim. Arnold Rattenbury (1946-2007) was an innovative exhibition designer, a critic and an original, lyrical poet of the heroic age of British Communism. Andy Croft completed the poets obituary early 2007. A fine book with fine connections.
