Description:
New York: The New American Library, 1968. Book Club (BCE/BOMC). . Hardcover. Very Good/Good. A late mystery from the original Ellery Queen (Dannay & Lee) that might be described as a "sixties black humor satire combined with the classical Queen whodunnit." Hendrick Brass, the last member of a wealthy Dutch family, invites six strangers to his 16th century ancestral home in New York's Sleepy Hollow country, makes the six his heirs and then leaves it to Ellery Queen to solve his murder. Yellow cloth-covered boards show only a very slight spine lean and edgewear. Previous owner's name, address and 1969 date on the front end paper, o/w boards and text are clean and tight. The predominantly white dustjacket is somewhat soiled with several inch-long tears. It is, however, close to 98% complete with no chipping or creasing. Makes a decent reading copy.
