James Quinter (1816-1888) joined the German Baptist Brethren Church in 1833, was elected to the ministry in 1838, and ordained an elder in 1856. He was educated at the boarding school, West Bradford, PA and taught school in Montgomery County, PA (1833-1842); and in Fayette County, PA (1842-1856). He served as principal of New Vienna (Ohio) Academy (1861-1864); Huntingdon Normal School; Brethren's Normal College; and Juniata College (1879-1888).
