Description:
Mexico [Mexico City]: Cuadernos del Unicornio, 1958. First Edition. Pamphlet. Very good. The first book by Pacheco, an important Mexican poet. This, however, is a short story, published in a thin chapbook in tan wrappers illustrated with a drawing of a unicorn head printed in red-orange ink. One of 400 copies. Series edited by Juan José Arreola. First edition (first printing). A very good copy (a bit of loss at the top of the spine).

Description:
Washington, DC: Government Printing Office, 1881. First Edition. Leather bound. Very good. A volume from the library of Romualdo Pacheco, the first Latinx governor of California. Pacheco (1831-1899) was born in Santa Barbara, California, when the town was part of Mexico. He was a leading political figure in his day, serving in many elected state offices and as a diplomat in Central America. In addition to serving as California's governor, he was also the first Latino in Congress (the Territory of New Mexico sent several nuevomexicanos to Congress as non-voting members). This volume comes from his time in the House of Representatives (1877-1883). This volume is stamped "R. Pacheco." in gilt at the base of the spine. Books from the libraries of 19th century Latinos are quite scarce. Volume title: "Appendixes to the Report of the Chief of Engineers, United States Army. (continued.)" House of Representatives, 37th Congress, 1st Session, Ex. Doc. 1, pt. 2, vol. II. A very good copy in half leather and…

Description:
[Mexico], 1898. A manuscript catalog of a career Mexican military officer's library, totalling more than about 650 works in 600 volumes, numbered and organized by subject. The list includes the title, author, and in some cases observations on each book, along with their series and identification numbers. Not surprisingly, the largest section of the library was devoted to books on military subjects (more than 230) and engineering (66). Among the literary titles were many works by Victor Hugo and Emile Zola. The catalog is handwritten in a 6 by 3-1/2 inch (oblong) lined notebook. The pages are gridded horizontally, with ten volumes listed per page spread. The leather covers are partially detached from the page block, else very good.

Description:
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 2011. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine/Near fine. A complete set of the four novels in the popular fantasy series that started with Eragon. The first book was originally self-published as a paperback; this set here includes the first trade hardcover of the first novel, as well as first printings of each of the subsequent volumes. First editions (first printings, with numberlines ending in 1). A very nice set, with all volumes fine in a fine dust jacket. All four books are signed by Paolini on the title page. Inheritance has a replacement barcode sticker on the back panel; this is common for signed copies and probably indicates a book offered already signed to booksellers.

Description:
Copenhague [Copenhagen]: J. Chr. Sorensen & Co, 1948. Ephemera. Very good. A poster advertising subscriptions to a post-war periodical, Le Surréalisme révolutionnaire, which successfully published just a single issue. The poster is a two-color lithograph measuring 18-5/8 by 24-7/8 inches, with an applied label with a brief chronology of Surrealism culminating in the publication of this journal. According to Yale's Beinecke Library, which has some archival material related to the journal, the poster design is by René Passeron (1920-2017), a French painter and art historian. This poster was previously matted and there is a bit of mat burn in the unprinted margins. The yellow-orange ink is a bit faded. The poster has been linenbacked, with the old folds flattened. With a few small nicks to the edges.
