Description:
London: Horace Cox. Good+ with no dust jacket. 1895. First Edition. Hardcover. In the original publisher's dark green cloth with gilt titling to the spine, and gilt titling and a gilt coastal illustration to the front board. Covers are clean but with some rubbing/'turning'/closed nicks to the head/tail of the spine and tips of the corners. Page fore-edges are lightly 'toned' due to ingrained dust over time as usual with a book of this age. FIRST Edition 1895. Internally the inner hinges have been re-glued at some point in the past. Some pale foxing spots/patches to the endpapers, prelims, Title and first few pages, but, although there is the odd spot here and there in the text, most of the book is spot free and very clean, but some of the gathers are uneven. Probably due to the page block being pretty 'heavy'. A page very near the end has some clear archive tape repairs to the blank margin/outer edges, o/w NO Inscriptions or other major marks that I can see.…

NO INSCRIPTIONS or Marks, VERY CLEAN TIGHT AND BRIGHT. Unread / Unmarked . (viii) +162 pp. An AS NEW, MINT copy. " Christine Pagnoulle's commentary provides a detailed study of eight among David Jones's more accessible poems: those pieces in fact which he reluctantly detached from his work-in-progress and released for publication between 1955 and his death in 1974. It elucidates difficult passages, relates them to his other works, whether poems, essays, or drawings, and shows how David Jones's vision of the world in the middle of our century bears on our present concerns. While developing orignal interpretations this commentary also integrates previous critical approaches into…

The 'fore-edges' and the 'top & bottom edges' are in various types of marbling. The top panel of the box opens on a hinge with a metal tab to reveal the inside - now empty. London: Oxford University Press. Very Good+ in Very Good dust jacket. 1968. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. 0192731181 . A large pictorial hardcover, white based, lettered in black with colour illustrations. In an identically illustrated/lettered dust-jacket. The dust-jacket has been carefully covered with clear archival book film by the former owner - and although not adhering to the d/j front cover - it has been stuck to the reverse of the d/j causing some SLIGHT discolouration to the white base of the top edge of the book, and to the very bottom of the spine. The d/j looks fine - though the reverse where the clear cover has been stuck on is discoloured - but doesn't show through. The clear cover has, however, preserved the d/j nicely. NOT price-clipped. Internally excellent - NO Inscriptions or marks. Plain bright pink endpapers. 56 pp. Illustrated throughout mainly in full colour, and some b/w by Papas.
