Virtually unique as presented here, apparently intended as a private publication for the Royal Corps of Engineers, with all 6 articles (Proposed Prussian Organization for the Duties of Troops at Sieges translated by HE Rawson, 26; Prussian Sapping Regulation translated by HA Gun, 40pp; Prussian Etappen Regulations, translated by D O'Brien, 72pp; Elements of Fortress Warfare, translated by CM Watson, 72pp; Principles of Fortification, translated by H Schaw & H Pilkington, 210pp; Prussian Pontoon Regulations, translated by HA Gun, 76pp). All 6 of these are bound together in half red calf with pebbled boards and marbled fore-edges, issued over a period of years ending in 1880. London: Amiralty Office, 1907. Near fine, linen backed Admiralty chart, first published 31st Mach 1875, and corrected in Jan. 1882 and Nov. 1907. B&W as issued, with elaborate detail of the involved island archipelagos (including area of Tuamotu or Low Archipelago). This was the last of a 4 sheet chart of the Pacific Ocean beginning with the Philippine and Celebes Islands (others not present), and finishing with this sheet. The map image is 25x38 inches, folding into stiff maroon boards (labeled) measuring 10.5x10.5 inches. A very attractive chart. .

Some of the maps are adapted from the 1959 2-volume West Point Atlas of American Wars. Along with these are aerial photographs from th e US High Altitude Photography Program, with very interesting perspectives not available to most previous Civil War historians. Most of the maps are full page and in color. Chapters are arranged predicated on individual battles and dates. There a nu mber of b&w photos of the various generals involved, with brief bibliographical statements. 176pp including index and illustration credits. This is a very nice volume. (4 copies available, each individually priced as above.).
