We cannot say for certain but it is possible 'Fay' is Lawrence Clark Powell's wife. We purchased the collection of Dr. John Carson, a fellow member of The Zamorano Club, and Mr. Carson had numerous books inscribed to him by Mr. Powell. A square, tight copy, in unclipped (no price) dj which mildly rubbed, with a few light stains and tiny chips to extremities, the dj now protected in a removable mylar cover.

Rebacked, retaining original spine. Hinges repaired in what appears to be a semi-professional manner, but effective.

Although not consistent with Harcourt practices, this is the true First American Edition, as confirmed by comparing with an advanced review copy in the “Daniel J. Leab Collection” in the John Hay Library at Brown University. VG with small triangular stain to foot of spine, with corresponding cut over the dust jacket spine. Other than cutout, unclipped dust jacket ($3.00) Very Good with only trivial edgewear and a hint of sunning to spine. $125.00

Square, tight copy with light foxing, more so to edges. Gray boards a bit darkened at extremities. Spine label fresh, however, with a bit of foxing, in scarce, watermarked dj which is foxed at folds, panels a bit darkened, and short closed tear to spine; however, with not a single chip, housed in card-covered slipcase which is split at joints. Dj now protected in removable mylar.
