Despite its faults, an attractive book., This is a serious treatment of the history of Mexico and really more advanced in style and content than the title implies. It follows the development of Mexico from the 6th century A.D. to about mid-way through the Diaz administration in 1894. Certainly not as detailed as Bancroft or Prescott --- nevertheless, a quick, useful reference, bound in the typical 19th c. manner with a colorful, stamped cover and with attractive line illustrations throughout.
