Good overall, some soiling and wear to wraps, corner crease to front wrap, foxed edges, a few notes in ink throughout by an unknown hand. Scarce in the trade, especially signed. A key work in the Republic of New Afrika movement that was begun in 1968 as a radical Black nationalist and separatist movement, declaring five southern American states to be a new nation. Obadele began as the information minister of the group, then took over the presidency from Robert F. Williams in 1971, holding that position until 1991.

Fine, in a Fine un-clipped dust jacket with faint toning to the spine and faint shelf wear. The author's only novel to be published during his life time. O'Brien committed suicide in 1994, just two weeks after learning this book would be made into a film.

Light lean to spine. Dust jacket shows light toning, and two short tears to the top of the front panel (1 inch and 1/4 inch long), with some associated creasing. The front flap is creased along the edge, and has a rubber stamp at the bottom reading "Material Center Central Office May 5 71". A rather nice copy of this difficult to obtain Newbery medal winner.

An Irish hit play, which inspired a 1936 John Ford film by the same name as well as a Cambridge, Massachusetts bar, which in turn inspired the literary magazine Ploughshares.

Her linocut illustrations (which received renewed attention with a Fantagraphics collection in 2012) are very prominent in the 1944 & 1945 volumes, making up the endpapers of the latter and heading its every chapter. There are also numerous photos of her in her various endeavors as editor of The Corinthian (GSCW's literary quarterly), and participant in the yearbook, the International Relations Club, the Town Girls' Club (for student relations) and the Newman Club (for Catholic students). The Newbery Award-winning novel, which was inspired by the true story of Juana Maria, a Native American woman who was left to live alone on San Nicolas Island during the 19th century.

Very Good, edges foxed, in Very Good dust jacket, dulled spine panel, light wear and stain at foot. A great association between playwright Odets, with one of his more difficult plays, and Hollywood actor Fredric March, a major star of his day. Odets' thanking March for his patronage of the experimental Group Theater collective, who put on this play, is a nice bit of Great Depression-era theater context too. The Group Theater would last ten years total; their biggest success would be the following year with Odets' play Golden Boy.
