Description:
This is a new, digitally enhanced reissue of the score originally published in 1908 by A. Durand et Fils, Paris. The "Petite Suite" was originally composed by Debussy in 1889 for piano, four-hands. By the time an orchestral version was sought in 1907, the composer was too busy with numerous other commissions to orchestrate his youthful work and entrusted the job to the conductor and composer Henri Büsser. This is the orchestral version most widely performed and recorded today.

Description:
In the wake of the success of his first volume of Liebeslieder-Walzer of 1869, Brahms set another 14 songs to the same poetry from Polydora, the 1855 collection of German folk-poems and love-songs assembled by George Friedrich Daumer (1800-1875) plus a conclusion set to a poem of Goethe - "Zum Schluss". Composed from 1869 through 1874, the second volume also features numbers for solo voices placed between the 4-voice settings. The first performance was given in Karlsruhe on May 8, 1875 of nine selections with four vocalists accompanied by Otto Dessoff and the composer on the piano.

The conductor Ernst Rudorff persuaded Brahms to orchestrate the accompaniment for No.9 (plus 8 numbers from the earlier Op.52 set) for a concert given at Berlin's Hochschule on March 19, 1870. Offered here is Richard Sargeant's thoroughly researched, meticulously edited and engraved complete score, including variants. Brahms' own earlier variant of the ninth song is present along with the final version of 1875. This… Read More

Description:
Sargeant's unique orchestration of Brahms' popular set of sixteen waltzes is a welcome addition to the symphonic repertoire. Brahms composed the original piano duet version in 1865 and arranged them for piano solo the same year. He later arranged five for 2 pianos which were published posthumously. Sargeant's orchestration, though employing a Brahms-size orchestra, is more contemporary in style but remains entirely performable by any reasonably practiced non-professional ensemble. This handy study score provides an easily read and inexpensive means of exploring some old wine in a contemporary bottle.

Description:
This is a new, digitally enhanced reissue of the score originally published in 1911 by Durand et Cie., Paris. Originally composed in 1910 for piano solo, Children's Corner was scored for small orchestra the next year by Debussy's student and good friend the composer André Caplet, who conducted the premiere in Boston. This is the orchestral setting most widely performed and recorded today. It is a brilliant example of early 20th century orchestral writing. The large conductor score and orchestral parts are also available from Serenissima.

Description:
Brahms composed his first volume of choral-watzes in August of 1869 to poetry taken from Polydora, an 1855 collection of German folk-poems and love-songs assembled by George Friedrich Daumer (1800-1875). Rather than the usual accompaniment for piano solo, Brahms elected to provide one for piano duet. The first performance was given in Heidelberg on November 4, 1869. The conductor Ernst Rudorff persuaded Brahms to orchestrate the accompaniment for 8 of the 18 selections (plus another subsequently included in his Op.65 set) for a concert given at Berlin's Hochschule on March 19, 1870. Offered here is a new edition and orchestration by Richard W. Sargeant Jr. The composer's own orchestration is retained for the eight selections prepared for the 1870 concert, while the remaining ten have been orchestrated by Sargeant with the same forces used by the composer.

Description:
Composed for the American amateur saxophonist Elise Hall in 1903, Debussy left the orchestration incomplete at his death. The task of finishing the orchestral score fell to Jean Roger-Ducasse, who prepared the orchestral version in time for its premiere on May 14, 1919 in Paris, conducted by Debussy's student André Caplet. The present study score is a digitally-enhanced reprint of the score issued by Durand et Cie. in 1919. In contrast to so many of the on-demand scores now available, this one comes with all the pages and the images have been thoroughly checked to make sure it is actually readable.
