Paul Nadar signed this Carte-de-Visite photograph of French set designer Pierre-Luc-Charles Ciceri (1782-1868) on the lower right of the image (not on the mount). 7 x 4.5 inch sketch sheet composed of three pen and ink humorous caricatures on one side and three pen and ink sketches on verso with a "Thomas Nast" wall sign drawn in the upper left corner. Note that the wall sign does not bear Nast's typical signature. This set of six drawings is attributed to Nast since it came with the classic drawing of Boss Tweed as short corpulent man with a money bag for his head. Autograph

MYRON "GRIM" NATWICK draws Betty Boop kicking up her heels to celebrate a birthday and the end of the year holidays. The sketch catches the readers' eye about midway along the first page left margin of this three page letter. In a large hand, Natwick first sends birthday wishes and continues noting the passage of time as the holiday season begins starting with Thanksgiving. "How fast everything moves at this time of year." He draws an open exclamation mark filled in with yellow water color on the right margin and opposite his drawing. Betty Boop's hair is shaded with the same color. "After Thanksgiving, time moves on 12 cylinders...." He continues with news of mutual friends and signs, "Grim." Negulesco appeals to Clifton Webb about his part most likely in the 1957 film, "Boy on a Dolphin," which also starred Sophia Loren in her first English language American film. Using little punctuation the director writes, "You misunderstood my cable the part is great through page 79 All I want is to be assured that any ensuing scenes will have the same import...in content...that the character be kept alive and consistent ...as for Wyman I couldn't care less about her or her Oscar Louise Reiner won two in succession and where is she please show cables to Sam after all he is the producer. Salute." He signs on the first page above the date, "Negulesco." Negulesco's "Boy on a Dolphin," was produced by Sam Engel referenced here. Decorative Letterhead Invoices from various companies for services or products rendered to New York City government departments in the Gilded Age. The city departments include the Board of Education, Brooklyn Fire Dept., City College of New York, Aqueduct Commission. Overall condition is good, usual aging with occasional corner chipping and several show tears at margin folds. The invoices offer a glimpse into the workings of city government. Autograph

MIKE NICHOLS. Four Signed Theater Documents related to the early production of the Broadway musical, "The Apple Tree," directed by Nichols. The play won the 1967 Tony Award for best musical and NIchols won the Tony for best directing of a musical. Our four documents use the play's original working title, "Come Back! Go Away! I Love You!". The documents each dated May 24, 1966, establish working arrangements between Nichols, Icarus Productions and the Stuart Company, a producer. The first document, "Re: Bock-Harnick Musical," is an agreement between the two producers to engage Nichols' services "as director" and as "an author" of the musical play. Jerry Boch and Michael Harnick wrote the music and lyrics to the musical and both won Tony's for best original score. NIchols signature, "Mike NIchols" appears as the second signature at the lower left of the page. This is a highly unusual drawing of a male figure in profile, full length from spurs to large brimmed hat, wearing brown paints, buckled boots, baggy red shirt and blue hat. He has a mustache with both guns drawn, one at his side and the second pointed and fired. This work is from a small collection of his miscellaneous drawings from a sketchbook and scraps of paper, some signed and others unsigned. This drawing is done on sketching paper, former folding visible and slight. Autograph
