Both top and bottom of the spine weaken but no rips/fraying, gift inscription not by the author on the 1st leaf. The book is tight and square, really nice to be 95 years old. It just has the stupidest cover designs.

New York: Doubleday, 1962 signed on the 2nd leaf maybe autopen( the R looks a little shaky), most autopens are on bookplate this is not, if not for the R it would look handsigned(it could be from a very nervious Richard), included wih this book was a printed card dated January 20, 1961 with VP seal and maybe a printed signature "Dick Nixon" Family picture front, its a fairwell statement..Book has minor shelfwear to the top of the spine area and minor bumping to spine ends,square corners and unread tightness, dj has rubbing,small chipping and shelfwear,and one tear top near spine about 1 inch down, 1/2 inch across,price intact.. Signed by Author. Stated First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good+/Good+.

I do not see any defects, lots of gold highlights and has an appearance of being new looking.

Basically, it is the Pulitzer Prize Edition and scarce Dustjackets only about 5 total and none on 1944(4 books) with the 1945 fetching top dollar and the 1973? even more(why). This DJ has chipping, almost separated flaps, and tears on all the folds. But better than some I have seen. I will redo the Brodart and use the good stuff to help save what is left. A 1945 with no mention of DJ for $85, then one that is worst with no mention of DJ $553.98.. I will list at ?? for now.
