19th Century. . Very good. - The last brief 4-lines of a letter penned by the artist on 2-7/8 inch high by 3-7/8 inch wide paper clipped from the bottom of a letter. Signed "Paul J Naftel". The autograph is mounted with glue from the verso onto heavier stock clipped from an album. Very good. The Guernsey watercolor painter Paul Jacob Naftel (1817-1891) was the only Guernsey-born professional painter of the 19th Century. A self-taught artist, he went on to teach at Elizabeth College on the island. His paintings of Queen Victoria's visit to Guernsey brought him attention and prints of his paintings of the tour were published in "The Illustrated London News". A prolific artist, he produced over 1,000 works. Naftel moved to London in 1870. His solo exhibition at the gallery of the Fine Art Society was well regarded. Both Rose Maynard Barton and Mildred Anne Butler studied under Naftel.

The exhibition was shown at the Collezione DOBE, Monte Bre from August 1 to September 2, 1991 and at the Chicago Athenaeum from November 1991 to January 1992. There are brief introductory remarks by Hynes and by Ralph J. Dosch and Jurg Becher of Collezione DOBE and Christian K. Laine, director of the Chicago Athenaeum.

The contents are fine. Very good. <p>Catalog for an exhibition shown at the Meadows Museum, Meadows School of the Arts, Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas from June 3 to July 15, 1990. The introduction is by Donald Knaub, Director of the Meadows Museum. The text also includes an essay by Donald Kuspit and an interview with Andres Nagel by Knaub.

The covers are rubbed with light creases to the edges. 117 & [3] pages of visual poetry with textual illustrations throughout. Very good. The literary quarterly "Magyar Muhely" (Hungarian Workshop) was launched in Paris in 1962 by Hungarian exiles. It was edited by Romanian-born critic and editor Pal Nagy (1924-2015). The quarterly was supported in part by George Minden's PSPDC (Publication and Special Projects Division) of the FEC.

Published in conjunction with The Siebu Museum of Art exhibition of Soviet art from October 24 through December 6, 1982.The text is in Russian and Japanese, with two of the essays translated into English.

The pastedowns are bubbled & there is soiling & staning to a few pages. There is a tear to the front edge of the dedication page. This little booklet is illustrated with a photograph of, presumably, a young John Nash mounted inside the front cover. A tiny crease to the top left corner of the covers is the only flaw to mar this otherwise near fine copy. <p>First edition.

Good. - Quarto [approximately 11 inches high by 8-1/2 inches wide]. 89 words typed on a sheet of his company letterhead with his initials printed within a wide decorative band at the top and his name and San Francisco address below. Signed "J. H. Nash". The sheet of letterhead is watermarked with the initials "JHN"and the name "JOHN HENRY NASH". The edges of the letter are darkened & chipped. There are small pieces out of the right hand margin with short tears at the folds. There is a pencil note by Meriden in the left margin & an unsigned carbon copy of Meriden's reply is on the verso. John Henry Nash writes to Meriden Gravure Company: "I am planning a new school catalogue in an edition of 1700 copies and am interested in your Collotypes as shown in your booklet, 'Collotype for Illustrations in Fine Books'.
