Un Ete Du Vin is an annual auction, in Nashville, Tennessee, of the finest wines to raise money for charity, apparently one of the premier wine auctions anywhere. The first section of this magnificently bound & printed auction book has beautifully lithographed pages of artistic wine related images & text from a variety of sou rces. The balance of the book enumerates & describes the silent & live auction lots. Concluding pages are of patrons, donors, credits, etc. Laid in are an Addenda & a printed bid folder. Many auction lots were of exotic trips to wine country & wine country event in North American & abroad.

The folding map in the back has been torn off leaving only British Columbia and part of Alberta. Otherwise textually complete with each province represented town by town with available game & fish & fowl, places to stay, and fishing/hunting guides. The province of Quebec has a map. Except for the map, very good copy.

Stapled wraps under cord-ties, unusually & interestingly bound in ochre printed burlap. 103pp. Illustrated with an abundance of b/w photos, & some drawings. fos. Laid in is a large folded sheet, a dramatic drawing of a Yokut Indian Basket, "Ready For The Sun Dance", with "List of Materials" & "Color Scheme for Yokut Dance Basket", which I suspect is missing from most copies. A four inch tear is archivally closed. I cannot begin to tell you the authentic tactile feeling this book gives. A treasure. The burlap is fraying at the edges & near the binding, but is virtually complete & only with ill treatment will it suffer further loss. Vg copy.

The book from which the plates are taken was published in Milwaukee in 1891 and was compiled/edited by ornithologist Heinrich Nehrling. Please note that I do not break good books of this kind when they are complete and in good condition. The plates offered are from a copy falling apart and missing many plates. Size: 11 5/8" x 8 3/4". The following disbound plates are included: I: six birds; II: Mockingbird; III: Catbird; IV: four birds ; V: seven birds; VI: Glue-gray Gnatcatcher; VII: Golden-crowned Kinglet; IX: Canon Wren (my personal favorite - a gorgeous print!); X: Prothonotary Warbler; XI: five birds; XII: six birds; XIII: eight birds. Affixed to the verso of the half-title is a folded sheet with type printed information on Neihardt - 2pp. and on last page is the song of the Delta Zeta Musical, which will mean something to someone. The five poems, The Song of... Three Friends, Hugh Glass, Jed Smith, The Indian Wars, the Messiah. Moderate cover wear. There is a 2-page map showing different routes of the subject matter. Better than good.
