Second and third issues of the RAF's WW2 Training Manual - with an interesting provenance. Numbers 2 and 3, from 1941 were the personal copies of A.O.C of RAF 71 Group, Paul Maltby, who spent three years as a PoW of the Japanese and after the war, was Knighted and became Parliament's Sergeant-at Arms, Black Rod. The 28pp magazines, issued in May and June 1941,  were never on sale and covered wartime training matters in a light-hearted fashion with cartoons involving Pilot Officer Prune. Blue covers with cream. Covers have separated and become detached, but have been repaired. Otherwise in generally good condition for their age, with rusty staples. Text blocs are relatively sound. Number three has AOC on front cover, both have a name written lightly on front cover and "This copy belongs to" panel inside rear covers stating "Air Vice-Marshal P. C. Maltby, A.O.C. No. 71 Group, R.A.F." Ref:165179

London: Ernest Benn, 1957. Black covers, 96pp with b/w illustrations. Covers have minimal wear but faded spine lettering. Prelims are foxed, as are dusty page edges. Unclipped DJ has a small mark upper front from removal of sticker, general wear to edges and several small closed tears. A couple of tears (one 6cm) have been neatly repaired. Ref:093342. London: B T Batsford, 1979. Detailed explanation of the woodcarver's art, 120pp (inc index) with 50 line drawinmgs and 88 b/w photographs. Brown covers with gilt lettering to spine. London: Hutchinson, 1933. Blue covers with black letering on spine and upper board, 223pp, plus adverts, with b/w iillustrations. Covers have damp stains, but very little wear. Dusty, discoloured page edges and occasional light pencilled marginalia, otherwise internally clean and tight. New York: Museum of Modern Art, 1980. Lavishly-illustrated "autobiography of the art of photography" , a history with essays dating back to the beginning and 190 illustrations. Grey covers with gilt, 328pp with b/w illustrations and grey endpapers. Covers have virtually no wear, but lightly sunned edges. Previous owner's name on ffep and neat inscription on half-title, otherwise internally very clean and tight. Unclipped DJ has just light shelf wear and slightly discoloured edges.
