New York: D. Appleton & Co., 1876. Hardcover. Good-. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. See photos for condition details. Large hardcover, three-quarter bound in leather with brown cloth to boards. Leather shows quite a bit of wear along edges and corners, spine is chipped at the top and has an old glue repair to the top right edge. Internal hinges are cracked at front and rear boards but text pages are secure. Pages are toned due to age, some quite toned, and scattered foxing and spotting is present. Some pages show edge chipping with small tears with the worst being the title page front end page contains a gift inscription. Please note: this is a very large and heavy book that weighs almost 8 1/2 pounds. Non-US sales and priority mail shipping option will require additional postage, media mail should not be affected.

New York: William Wood & Company, 1880. First US Edition . Hardcover. VG+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, dark green cloth boards ornately decorated in black along with gilt on spine. Exterior shows minor handling wear and spotting along with edge and corner bumps. Internal binding is good, though there is some pulling the front board but the text pages are tight. Paper is toned due to age with minimal foxing and spotting. Original physician's name and address is penciled on the front pastedown. Rear end page and pastedown shows some speckles.

New York: Simon and Schuster, 1931. 4th Printing. Hardcover. VG+. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Soglow. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, cloth boards with label on front and spine. Exterior has some very light scuffing and a few smudge marks, corners are are lightly bumped. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No hinge issues, no signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting, nothing torn or loose. The batch number that you see printed on the last end page is from the publisher run and should be able to be easily erased, if desired. The copyright page states fourth printing of January 1931, which is the same month and year as the first printing.

Boston, MA: Little, Brown and Company, 1962. Hardcover. VG+/Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Ivan Chermayeff. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket still has the original price of $3.50 on the front flap, though it was crossed up with a pen and ".95" written next to it. DJ shows scuffing and wear marks, particularly to the spine and corner edges, the front hinge of the jacket is pretty frayed. Green cloth boards underneath are overall clean with only a few spots, corners and edges show only light wear. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks, no handwriting found (although there is a small black mark underneath the sign on the page opposite the copyright page. Boston, MA: B. B. Russell, 1877. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, brick red cloth beveled boards decorated in black and gilt. Exterior shows quite a bit of wear with cloth splitting at front hinge and tears along the spine. Internal binding is cracked at the front board and it appears the first canary yellow end page is missing. Remaining binding is good and text pages are tight. Rear pastedown has a couple ink spots on it. Pages are quite toned due to age and type of paper used spotting/foxing is present throughout. Good copy for reading or reference purposes but exterior is a bit rough. There were also a couple scraps of paper, one being a 1860s newspaper clipping, these were left between the pages as they did not appear to be reacting with the book paper.

Cincinnati, OH: Curts & Jennings, 1860. Hardcover. Good+. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. See photos for condition details. Large hardcover, pebbled black cloth boards half bound with leather to corners and spine. Leather is quite worn, dry and powdery, with chipping present at top and bottom of spine as well as the exterior hinge cracking of both front and rear. Despite the worn exterior the interior binding is very good. No internal hinge cracks are present and binding is tight. Marbled end pages in front and rear are free of any handwriting or bookplates, no library markings, no signatures etc. The text pages are toned but clean and show very little use. There are a few scattered smudge marks but these are mainly on the front end page to the title page. The first title (Commentar über das Neue Testament) contains 664 pages and the second book in this single binding (Das Evangelium nach Lukas) contains 230 pages. Democratic National Committee, 1936. Soft cover. VG-. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. Large softcover, measuring 14 inches tall. Contains numerous portraits, which are protected with tissue guards. Filled with articles and beautiful 1930s advertisements from Budweiser, Chevrolet, alcohol companies, etc. No handwriting, no torn or loose pages, nothing taped or stamped. Front cover shows corner and spine creases and there's a 1 inch tear in the top left corner. Rear cover also shows numerous creases and there's a 1 inch tear in the bottom right corner. Hand sewn and annotated with a drawing of an anchor showing who the booklet belonged to: Inscription on cover reads: " William W. Wood - Chief Engineer - W. S. Navy - Washington D.C. March 12, 1845". Hardcover, this book came from the ships library of the USS Bear, with this info stamped on both the front and rear pastedowns. Maroon cloth boards show spotting and toning along with edge and corner bumps/wear. The rear board and spine has a couple whitish spots present. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. The book is filled with numerous large foldout charts and illustrations, some of which are in color. They all appear to be in good shape though some of them have small corner folds. Besides the larger ordinances used on the ship there is also a chapter on small arms and machine guns, which includes the Colt model 1911. This includes illustrated part breakdowns. Philadelphia, PA: Printed for the Author, 1808. Hardcover. Good-. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original full leather binding with red and gilt on spine. Exterior shows scuffing and soiling with leather chipping along all edges, spine is missing a portion of the leather at the bottom and leather is also cracked at both boards with the worst being the rear, where the board is separating at the bottom. There is some pulling of the internal binding at boards though text pages are secure and binding is tight. The front pastedown has a set of initials or numbers written along the top edge but that is the only handwriting found in the book. No bookplates, no library markings, no repairs. Paper is quite darkened due to age and foxing is present throughout. The foldout chart is present and attached in the back of the book.

Hardcover, black cloth boards with red and silver text on spine. Interior is mildly spotted and soiled from handling wear with very light edge bumps present. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No hinge issues, no signatures or bookplates, no library markings. Only evidence of handwriting found in book is on the title page where there is very faint residue of a price that was once penciled in the corner. No other handwriting found. Copyright page states second printing.

New York: Edward Dunigan & Brother, 1858. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original purplish brown blind stamped cloth boards with gilt on spine. Spine is extremely faded with numerous cracks at the hinges, the worst being the upper right half. Internal binding is in much better shape with no hinge cracks found. Paper is very toned due to age and there is foxing present. Pale yellow end pages and pastedowns and front and rear. Front end page has a small piece of paper with the R pasted in the upper right corner. On the frontispiece is written: "This book belongs to the Monastery of the Visitation B.P.M., Washington". No other handwriting found in the book.

Green cloth boards with gilt on front and spine. Exterior shows minor edge wear and spine sunning. Previous owner signature (Charles B. Kephart) on front end page. Signed by the author on the title page. Both appear to be done with the same pen. Binding good, no hinge cracks, no torn or loose pages. Scattered foxing is present as are a few smudge prints. Copyright page states original printing of July in 1924, reprinted December 1924, and again in October 1925.

Baltimore, MD: Privately Printed , 1929. Limited Edition . Hardcover. Good-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, gray paper covered boards half bound in black cloth to spine. Exterior shows quite a bit of spotting and soiling along with edge and corner wear. Signed by the author in pencil on the front end page. This is also a limited edition of 150 copies, of which this is number 83. The hinge is cracked at the front board and there is some splitting at page 260 but the remaining binding is good. The front hinge crack is pretty severe and is starting to pull back from the spine, so it will need to be repaired. It is likely the brief presentation inscription by the author was to a friend as the author's memoriam is tipped-in on the front end page and there is also a tribute pamphlet enclosed from the author's funeral. Softcover, original 1902 publication - not a modern reprint or rebound library copy. Book appears to be missing entire exterior (which is the only reason why the condition has been graded as poor) but all internal pages are present and attached. Paper is toned due to age and there is some light foxing and spotting present. No handwriting or library markings, no signatures. Front cover is darkened and spine shows residue near the spine area showing some adhesive from the original wraps.

Schrader, which is also stamped inside the book. Frank Charles Schrader (1860-1944) of Harvard and the United States Geological Survey (USGS) was a well-known and respected American geologist, mineralogist, and entomologist, and author. He was known throughout the west as the prospector's friend and was also one of the first federal geologists to explore Alaska. A beautiful edition with bright colorful board and spine, clean and bright end pages that are clear of any handwriting or bookplates. Book is square and binding tight. Map included. Only flaws found was some bubbling of the cloth on the rear board along the turn-in edge and a small dot in the center about an inch from the top. See photos.
