Eugene Genovese was a controversial social historian with early radical Marxist leanings.

INSCRIBED to Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winner Richard Eberhart on the title page: “for Dick Eberhart, in admiration and gratitude—Duane Niatum Dec. ’76.” An excellent copy with a highly-desirable association.

INSCRIBED to Pulitzer Prize winner Richard Eberhart and his wife: “Dick and Betty on the happy occasion of your visit to Alaska with love and fond wishes from all the Nickersons.” VG+ in pictorial wraps (scuffing and rubbing). Inserted is a one-page publisher’s promotional broadside, with green decorative tree design accompanied by the poem “Night Realm of the Pine-Wife” (“Where do the seals sleep / This night of frozen fog? / I have followed out / As far as sound can reach”). Near Fine, folded twice. Promotional ephemera from the Berkeley, CA Thorp Springs Press to advertise Nickerson’s new book To the Waters and the Wild: Poems of Alaska (“ready in 1975”). On the verso of the broadside is a letter SIGNED by Nickerson to Eberhart, dated July 8, 1976 from Juneau, Alaska (Nickerson was Poet Laureate of Alaska). Text printed in red, halftone illustration of a baby’s foot and door after pencil drawing by author. SIGNED by Niffenegger in an edition of 75. Colophon printed inside portfolio reads, “Printed on two Van der cook presses by Audrey Niffenegger assisted by Bea Nettles’ Experimental Printmaking class at UIUC School of Art and Design. Folio designed by Jason Pietrucha, laser-cut by Michael Peyton and printed by the Soybean Press. 2-7-08.” Niffenegger trained as a visual artist and has gone on to write the critically-acclaimed The Time Traveler’s Wife (basis for the 2009 film starring Rachel McAdams) and Her Fearful Symmetry.Not offered in commerce, and only three U.S. holdings per OCLC (UIUC, Central Florida, Newberry).

Off green wraps, 4 pp. A limited edition of this 16-line poem by the prolific author and biographer and friend of Ezra Pound and e.e. cummings. Near Fine. Uncommon. Although not marked, this comes from Norman’s estate in Newport, RI, where he died in 1996.
