Description:
No Place: No Publisher [2]p, with docket title to reverse, n.d. but probably 1705. Chipped with loss to head, catching a few letters with loss, but no real loss of sense, slightly chipped to sides and foot, lightly browned with several small tears. ESTC T46435, suggesting that it is possibly by John Sudbury and Robert Griffith, with Hanson providing the date. Notes that sailors, sometimes after many years to sea, are often not paid what they are owed, leading them to sell their wages "at very great loss", which makes them incapable of paying his creditors, leading to tradesmen not being paid, and seamen deserting or entering into 'foreign service'. Hanson 529. First Edition. Unbound. Fair. 4to. Broadsheet.

London: J. Booth and T. Clay, 1820. [4], iv, 91pp, [1], five plates. Original boards, new spine to match, lacking original printed label. Rubbed to extremities, corners and edges bumped and worn, light white marks to top left corner of lower cover. Previous owners name to head of title, very slightly browned, otherwise fairly bright and clean. With five plates (one line engraving, two lithographs and three aquatints), two of which are folding. The more uncommon first edition, there was a second edition published in 1823. Prideaux notes that Nicholson (1753-1844) was one of the founders of the Old Water-Colour Society, and that he "settled down as a landscape draughtsman, finding a ready market for his very numerous works, and, later on, attaining to the distinction of having his drawings fraudulently copied ... The 'Practice of Drawing' is a somewhat elaborate treatise, but full of interest, as showing how far in 1820 water-colour landscape art had become emancipated from the earlier…

Description:
Dursley: W. Rickards [Printer], 1810. Single sided printed leaflet, approximately 175mm x 220mm in size. Lightly stained to head, especially to reverse (possibly from glue), rubbed and creased. Reverse has the details in ink of the sheep stolen, detailing four instances over a couple of months in 1809 and 1810. Hand bill offering a substantial reward for information leading to the conviction of the offenders, one of the sheep mentioned was stolen, whereas the other was killed and the carcass stolen, "leaving the head and skin". Dursley is in Gloucestershire. The printer was W.[illiam] Rickards of Long Street, who advertises hand bills, cards etc. "printed at only One Hour's Notice". The BBTI has him at Silver Street between 1830 and 1842, and his press was registered in 1831, but clearly he had been printing for some time before then. First Edition. Unbound. Good. 8vo. Leaflet.
