Although some previous owner used the book as a coaster, and there are stray pencil marks and even a short comment about one poem in ink, and the spine is faded, this is still a desirable copy for a fan of Ogden Nash's work--Happy Days was his third book. The cartoons by Soglow are worth the price of the book alone (and are all complete and unmarked). You may be surprised to discover an entire song with its piano score--lyrics by Nash, music by Robert Armbruster.

Among other pleasures, Kasner tells the story of how his nephew invented the now-famous word "google.," but the book is easily the most accessible account of higher mathematics, still today. Turned me on to mathematics when I read it in high school. This copy is in good condition (13th printing) except for the cover, which has all its test remaining despite a couple of chunks torn out.

Although this book dates from 2008, there has been little or no progress in identifying the reason that the universe consists almost entirely of matter, when every known process of particle physics produces the same amount of matter and antimatter. Important issues of symmetry in physics are discussed. The mystery is elucidated although not solved.

This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. There are songs in nearly all of Shakespear's plays; even Hamlet includes snatches of the popular songs of the day. Some songs are well-known, such as "Full fathoms five thy father lies" from The Tempest, or "Under the greenwood tree" (As You Like It). The songs are discussed in detail, and in an appendix music is provided for "The willow tree" (Othello). Aside from a few small spots and minor scuffs, the book is like new. A previous owners name is written in ink on the top of the front endpaper.
