Near Fine with light fading across the top edge of boards, in a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket with light edge wear, light fading to the spine panel and a short closed tear.

Shaberman 20.) 440, (4)pp. Original green cloth with gilt spine stamping, front blindstamped. Good+ with a cocked spine, cloth worn and a bit frayed along edges, exposed tips, some foxing and thumbing, hinges very tender. Alice in Wonderland author Lewis Carroll called this novel "very enjoyable, and the character of Annie Anderson is one of the most delightful I have ever met with in fiction." A scarce signed work by the Scottish Victorian novelist who helped create the genre of fantasy.

A Good+ copy with rolled spine, some creasing and rubbing to covers. The early pulp titles of MacDonald are uncommon signed.

Near Fine with offsetting to endsheets, foxing to endsheets and textblock edge, but otherwise bright and clean. In a rich, vibrantly colored example of the dust jacket with small chips to corners and spine ends, a chip at the bottom left corner of the front panel and a short closed tear to the top rear spine joint, else Fine. Unsophisticated and unclipped, a superior copy. A WWII espionage thriller. Critics were amazed by the skillfulness and poise that it displayed for being a debut novel. The author would go on to write the Lew Archer crime novels under the pen name Ross Macdonald.

Light, easily-erasable pencil inscription on first blank page from 1904 detailing this copy's ownership history; owner's small stamp on page facing title page. Small slit to paste down along gutter. Text clean. A nice copy that presents well.

Apparently some copies also have tissue-guarded author frontispiece and ads at rear. This one doesn't; priority unknown.) 423 pp. Original brick red cloth with gilt lettering. Good condition with cloth thoroughly mottled with age, frayed at head and tail, spine lettering rubbed. Front hinge splitting at edges, still intact, though. Tiny contemporary owner inscription on front flyleaf. Light occasional internal foxing.

An oft-reprinted mystery described on the front flap as "A tale of hatred that had smoldered over the long years until it no longer could be controlled.

The Great God Pan is an enduringly popular Gothic horror novella, quite scandalous in its time for its comparatively frank depictions of sexuality. It would inspire Bram Stoker's Dracula, Lovecraft's The Dunwich Horror, and works by Clark Ashton Smith and Stephen King.

A very nice, unsophisticated set.A classic study of human behavior covering hundreds of years of panics, fads, fallacies, mobs, and crazes in society and markets. The first profusely illustrated edition.

Very Good+ with typical transfer from maps to facing pages and within folded maps, closed tears in all three maps (each isolated to a single panel) along with a little foxing and staining. Toned contents. Scattered ink corrections to text, checkmarks on errata sheet at rear. Marbled paper rubbed and chipped along edges. The famous Scottish explorer's account of two Canadian expeditions in search of the Northwest Passage.
