Description:
New York: Farrar, Straus and Young, 1954. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7. Hardcover with dust jacket; 8 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches, 207 pages. Black paper boards backed in terracotta cloth, mild edge, pages lightly toned with age, binding sound, pictorial dust jacket with edge wear and chipping along extremities, two small tears at top front edge, small piece out at top rear edge, now in protective mylar cover. From the jacket flap: The characters in this powerful novel are chiefly adolescents, adult in their worldliness but painfully immature in experience, deficient in their perspective and lacking a set of values to apply to their new-found, near-adult world. They confuse wickedness with achievement, promiscuousness with sophistication; they are haunted by shadows of lies, homosexuality, drug addiction. At once sensitive and callow, their dominant characteristic is impatience, and this is a day of impatience and emotional crisis in the life of a young Italian in post-war Naples, his personal…

Description:
Spring Valley, Minnesota: Ladies' Benevolent Society Congregational Church, 1915. Soft cover. Good. Paperback, green covers with black lettering, rules and decoration to front cover, photo of church on rear cover, ads printed inside covers, 9" x 6", typographic ads throughout, most recipes with contributor's name, 104 pp. Wear and soiling to covers, a few stains to pages. Good condition. Most likely printed in the early 1910s, with only about half the ads having phone numbers, and at least one promoting the fact that they do have a phone. The Waldorf Salad recipe has walnuts (the original recipe from 1896 did not include walnuts; they were added during the 1900s), but just adds "salad dressing" instead of mayonnaise specifically. There is also a recipe for Preacher's Pie. Modern preacher's pie, better known as possum pie in the South, usually has a layer of chocolate-this recipe does not.

Description:
Boston: G. Schirmer. The Boston Music Co, 1910. 1st Edition. Soft cover. Very Good. Hallowell, R.C. Softcover, white covers with blue and yellow cover art, 12-1/2" tall, 70 pp., engraved and printed by White-Smith Music Pub.Co., Boston, the title page has "G. Shirmer. The Boston Music Co." at the foot as if they were the publisher or distributor. Front cover has chips at each spine end and one to fore edge, none affect the cover art, rear cover rubbed, spine replaced with black cloth at some point, general wear from usage, but still a VG copy. Housed in a black cloth clamshell box. Based purely on instinct, I believe the spine repair and clamshell were done at the same time, and probably in mid-twentieth century. Some discoloration to lower portion of front cover of clamshell box. John Reed's first separately published (i.e., not Harvard Lampoon) work.

Description:
No date or publisher, 6" tall, 13 pp. Stapled wraps with printed cover, very good condition.A brief memoir of a young man's experiences working at a head shop in Bellingham, Washington. In the span of 13 pages, he takes marijuana, LSD, and heroin; befriends a Hell's Angel; takes a buying trip to Haight Ashbury; has sex with a woman who also had sex with Charles Manson; attends a Who concert; publishes a book and records a song (both fail commercially); talks his way out of being busted by the cops; goes through two relationships with women; avoids a homosexual encounter; and stops taking drugs. Presumably at least partly fictional—especially the part where they drive through Los Angeles on their way from Bellingham to San Francisco, unless the drugs were better than they realized.
