The cover continues to say, "Given by The Boys of the Eastern Range La Junta, Colorado Wednesday, December Thirtieth, '08". An attractive print font is used. Dotted border on front cover margin. Cover also has gilt imprint of steer or cow with horns, & with decorative device on either side. Back cover lists Committees in charge of the event. The inside folder is the "Tally Book" dance card with 34 dances listed (each with a cattle brand beside it) & a line for the dance partners' names to be penciled in. This dancer penciled in 18 dances/partners. In addition to the 34 dances, the evening began with "Cow Boys' Grand March -- Quadrille" & it ended with "Maverick Home Sweet Home". Binding and condition otherwise fine. Price takes above into account.

Binding in turquoise, pink, gold, light purple, and black.432pp. Art deco printed endpapers. Includes highly detailed folding map (18 1/4" x 24 1/4"), "Plan de Paris" with some print in red. Sections of book: 3pps Les Fetes a Souhaiter; following is full year Jan 1 - Dec 31 with a lined page for each day for entries to be made. There is a "masthead" at top of each page, and at the top corner of each page on either side of the date is the day (e.g., Friday) and the name of the day (usually the name of a saint) on presumably the church calendar. Many pages have entries, usually brief, most in ink & some in pencil; then 2 pps "Recapitulation des Epenses de L'Annee"; then follows (after a 1p calendar table) 10pps with 10 one-half page architectural type drawings of specific opera house & theatre interiors, with added information under the drawings perhaps… Read More

Either this is the second edition or second printing of the first edition, or the book was not actually published until the year after copyright. 451pp. Illustrated in b/w but with frontispiece in color. A poor copy, unfortunately. Binding tight as reglued, but hinges broken, front paste down partial, ffep missing. Recipe in pencil written upside down on recto of frontispiece. Throughout the book including the title page, the (presumably) original owner PINNED news articles and recipes to various pages using a straight pin. I have chosen not to remove these and leave it to the buyer to do so. Several laid in news articles and recipes unpinned. This book was reprinted 10-20 years ago and a possible plan for a collector is to get this early edition and the reprint although the paper used in this early edition are flexible… Read More
