University of Washington Press, 1960. Cloth. Very Good. 1st Edition; xv, 215pp, illustrated, b/w photographs, illustrations, charts, 1 map. Blue cloth covers with yellow titling in pictorial dustjacket. "This is ..... my principal reason for presenting [the personal histories] here. They are fragmentary compared with the book-length biographies obtained from a few Indians of the United States but they do show the personal aspects of those customs that anthropologists usually describe so impersonally, e. g. , marriage, adoption, the making of a hunter, and the child's instruction in religion and social relationships. We see in the reminiscences of several people, probably better than in one long autobiography, the variance in culture, even in a small isolated group. Also, it is hoped, we see not 'the Nunivak Eskimos' but individuals." Contents clean. Very Good Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilogram.
