San Francisco: James Linden Editions, 1989. Soft Cover. Near Fine binding. Oblong folio. [28] pp. First separate edition, one of 77 copies from an edition of 87. Printed on Rives BFK and stitched into burgundy covers with a printed paper title label; three photographs are dry mounted and each signed below by Mundy. The covers are a trifle sunned near the spine, otherwise, a fine copy of Mundy's triptych that is here coupled with Le Guin's chapter, "Where It Is," from her work "Always Coming Home." Linden remarks in a note, that Mundy had long wanted to "produce a triptych: three photographs taken quickly, with spontaneity as the effective aesthetic binding agent." It was Le Guin's text that proved to be a catalyst that sent out Mundy and Linden out into the Valley on a foggy June morning to take these photographs which Linden brought together with Le Guin's chapter.

New Orleans: James Harmanson, printed at the Pelican Press, 1947. Hard Cover. Very Good+ binding. Octavo. [16], xxvi, [2], 376 pp., map, illus. Limited edition, one of 600 copies. This copy signed by Harmanson on the colophon. In publisher's cloth with morocco title label. Light rubbing, but quite a fresh copy. Le Page du Pratz offers a great deal of useful information about the Natchez and other Mississippi tribes, and his work as a whole has been the basis for many later studies of the period. Howes notes that it is "[v]aluable for showing French claims to southern territory east of the Mississippi and for particulars concerning Indian nations there." Of special interest is a short account of Louis de St. Denis' expedition to New Mexico in 1715. Clark calls it a "curious mixture of history, travel narrative, tall stories, and reminiscences . . . touch[ing] upon almost every phase of Louisiana in his time." 18th century editions are remarkably rare, but here Harmanson offers a very good modern… Read More
