First printing of this compilation from Kasandra Kares which identifies astrological predispositions for diseases and reviews herbs which have been beneficial in their treatment.  Third in the series from this publisher devoted to the astrological identification of disease.  .

First printing. 4to, unpaginated, two color illustrations in teal and black, orange boards, corners bumped, lettered in black, in illustrated jacket with few small edge tears and rubbing, very good. Charming first printing of this picture book that tells the story of longshoreman Mike who adopts a kitten, Minnie, and the events that unfold as she grows up and produces a family of kittens to populate the pier where Mike works.

New York: E. P. Dutton & Company, 1942. First edition. 8vo, 270pp. Gray cloth boards, lettered and illustrated in green, illustrated jacket. Very good, boards slightly bowed, spine cocked and showing a touch of fading. Former owner's (blank) bookplate attached to ffep over an old price mark, which is visible on the verso. Jacket bright but with some soiling and rubbing, mainly to extremities. A very good example. The final novel American mystery and science fiction author, Harry Stephen Keeler (1890-1967), would publish with Dutton, who had published his previous 36 books.  The mystery, being a prime example of one of his later bizarre and winding works, would be in part to blame for his declining readership and subsequent dropping by the publisher.  It is also quite uncommon in the striking jacket.  Way Out series #3.

Published in the UK as "Shrunken Heads," by Macdonald, the book was issued the next year as a trade paperback by Futura, back under the original title of "When the Bough Breaks." This is a first edition of Shrunken Heads in a variant jacket which acted as a promotion for the Futura paperback. The jacket shows the paperback cover with some review blurbs below, and on the back has information regarding the advertising campaign, publishing and marketing, etc. as you would see on an advance copy. Near fine book with toning to pages in like jacket with some rubbing and soiling to rear panel.
