Beautiful floral vignette on the titlepage, and with a lovely floral endpiece to close the book. Lit: Knuttel 14460.

4 pages, handwritten letter in ink, there was a public outcry against the proposed wedding of the king with a roman catholic wife. This letter, signed by V.P.V.K (or N.P.N.K.) is an example of this protest.

12°, 312+416+379 pag., full leather. Good copy of a classical work on Japan in French. Illustrated with a frontispiece and 13 foldings plates with maps and views. Second, slightly abridged edition in 12°. Kaempfer (a German physician and botanical scientist), was a medical officer to the Dutch factory on Deshima. He was one of the (very) few persons that were allowed to travel through Japan when this was forbidden to other Europeans. His interestting and excellent illustrated work has long been recognized as the most authorative report on Japan. B0586.

Amsterdam, Gebroeders van Staden, 1845, 8,5x5 cm, green paper binding, one half of the brass clasp construction remains, on the inside of the back cover there is a folded paper pocket to store small items (one side is damaged), no page numbers in the first part, the second part counts 32 pp. followed by more unnumbered pages. Apart from the damage to the binding and the paper pocket in the back, the book is in excellent condition. 22x17 cm.l Grimoald II (?-714) was hofmeier van het koninkrijk Neustrie vanaf 695. Hij was getrouwd met een dochter van koning Radboud. Hij werd in april 714 vermoord door een sluipmoordenaar.

38x50 cm.l De prins op een stoel omgeven door vrouwen en bedienden. Links op de voorgrond Jean Jaureguy die overmeesterd wordt door de soldaten.
