Two issue of the short lived anti-Mormon newspaper, Salt Lake Daily Review. Billing itself as "Independent in all things, neutral in nothing", the papers ran from August 9, 1871 through February 14, 1872, daily except Sunday. These two issues are for December 4, 1871 and January 16, 1872. The first newspaper is nearly complete separated at the fold; the second with loss of 1/2 x 2" at the inner edge affecting a bit of the text.~~Each newspaper carries notices of the trial of Brigham Young at the time; Young was being tried under an 1862 law that prohibited polygamy in the territories; though he had married more than twenty wives, he was acquitted. ~~The lead in the December 4 paper was "Adultery Must be Put Down" and states "We are not aware that Utah has ever been ceded to Brigham Young or to the Mormon Church," In the Court Proceedings section of the December 4 paper, is given an account of wrangling in the court re Young's failure to appear: "The court inquired of Mr. Hempstead if he could say…
