The book uses several caricatures of airplanes to illustrate aviation topics such as "Ground School," "Take Off," "Nasty Storm," "Parachute," "Forced Landing," "Formation Flying," and "Refueling." There is also an introduction by Amelia Earhart, and this edition was approved by United Airlines. There is an inscription on the top right of the front cover, otherwise, the book is in great condition with minimal edge wear and general toning throughout. Signed by Elvy Kalep. Created by Chester Katzman, an eleven year old boy from New Haven, CT, this scrap book was a school assignment to record an imaginary European tour taken by the student. The book includes various short essays on what was seen, the history and agriculture of the countries and hand drawn maps and flags from his "journeys". At the front of the scrap book is his hand made passport that states Chester's occupation as 'student'. Chester started his "trip" in Italy. He drew an agricultural map of the country including cut-outs or actual bits of product such as wheat and corn. He leaves Italy for Ethiopia and includes magazine cut-outs and newspaper articles about the Ethiopian unrest and war . A very charming interactive children's book starring Mr. Luke, a harried zookeeper who needs help putting the animals back in their cages at the end of the night. Each of the eight die-cut animals, ranging from "Trunko" the elephant to "Humpo" the camel, are originally housed in an envelope in the back of the book; the child must take each one and put it in the proper "cage" throughout the book. An archive of original materials relating to customs seizures of alcohol, opium, and other illegal goods in New York City by customs guard John F. Kirschhoff between 1925 and 1954. Includes typewritten lists of harbor patrol raids, correspondence, subpoenas, newspaper clippings, and an original handwritten account of a 1930 liquor raid seizing 1,095 cases of liquor in the East River. At least one of the clippings depicts Kirschhoff in action. The archive appears to have been assembled by Kirschhoff himself, and includes letters to him praising the efforts of him and his colleagues from government officials.
