A wonderful copy from one of America's first (and best) multicultural illustrators. A sharp, attractive copy, first edition, number line reads 1 2 3 4 5 6. Book is clean, no markings or writing. Jacket has price intact ($7.95), does have a 5" wrinkle on front cover but no tear, another small wrinkle near bottom edge of front of jacket, minor wear at corners and on both ends of spine on DJ; small (1/4") closed tear on back DJ. Overall, outstanding.

Presumed first printing; internal lists to self, placing this copy circa 1959. No writing, very clean; endpapers are bright green and lovely. Wrap dust jacket also lists to self on rear flap; front flap contains a title synopsis. Back cover is an uncommon list of Nancy Drew with the logo in red, listing to Golden Pavilion (also published in 1959).Jacket has an unfortunate smush and closed tear starting at the top of the spine resulting in creasing across the front of the jacket and also some damage where a price sticker was removed. Not terrible but is protected in Brodart.

No writing, some slight yellowing to half-title and facing page as though a bookmark had been laid in. Endpapers are bright green and lovely. Jacket lists to Black Flower on front flap and to Nancy Drew Witch Tree SYmbol on the back. Jacket is very good in Brodart, one major chip to the top of the spine and some creasing and closed tears. Overall, a nice displayable copy.

Boards show expected wear, and the spine is quite faded and beginning to fray at the top. Page ends are foxed -- top page ends are red. Overall a solid B+ considering the age of the book.

Re-assembled and preserved in Brodart making it displayable. Color on the jacket is unusually bright and pretty.
