Pauline Kael’s essay claiming that Welles did not write any of the Citizen Kane screenplay has now been thoroughly disproved and discredited with research from the RKO archives, and Robert Carringer’s thorough study, ‘The Making of Citizen Kane’. Still, the book does contain as its redeeming feature the first printing of the Citizen Kane screenplay and the cutting continuity. Illustrated. Lightly used copy in a bright dust jacket with a tiny bit of wear. Listed in 100 Books on Hollywood & the Movies.

Very good plus copy with some minor handling, a bit of edge wear, and a trace of dust soiling in a near fine dust jacket with a hint of dust soiling. F.X. Feeney (1953 - 2020) is best known for his work as a film and book critic for LA Weekly, creative consultant for Z Channel, and for his pieces in American Film, Movieline, People Magazine, Variety, and Vanity Fair. He is also the author of the 2015 book Orson Welles; Power, Heart and Soul.

Signed presentation copy to Walter Lantz inscribed: “To Walt Lantz, my very dear friend and able confederate in the perpetration of this little volume, with my affectionate regard and esteem. Frederick Kafka”. This is Lantz’s first illustrated book and contains 25 black & white illustrations plus the dust jacket cover. A book of humor. Lantz shortly went on to take his comic art inventiveness into the world of animation and gained acclaim for creations like Woody Woodpecker and Andy Panda. Very good in a chipped and tape-repaired dust jacket.

A beautifully color illustrated screenplay with forewords and introductions by Salma Hayek, Julie Taymor, and Hayden Herrera. The resulting film is the highly acclaimed motion picture biography of Mexican artist and activist, Frida Kahlo, and her artist husband, Diego Rivera. Fine in a fine dust jacket. The film was directed by Julie Taymor and starred Salma Hayek as Frida, with Alfred Molina as Diego Rivera, Diego Luna, Valeria Golino, Ashley Judd, Antonio Banderas, Edward Norton, Geoffrey Rush as Leon Trotsky, Roger Rees, and Mia Maestro. A two volume history of German film published by a German cigarette company in an oversized photo album format with nearly 400 hand-tipped-in black and white photographs of a multitude of German film stars represented including Pola Negri, Walter Slezak, Brigette Helm, Leni Riefenstahl, Emil Jannings, Willy Fritsch, Henny Porten, and even Gary Cooper posing with Marlene Dietrich in a passionate scene from Morocco, a film directed by Josef von Sternberg, as well as a classic pose of her in The Blue Angel. In addition there are 4 hand-tinted full-page beautiful color plates. Extensive text in German. Only one photo is missing from this amazing chronicle of important film history. Paperbound. Minimal amounts of foxing, else very good plus in stiff decorative paper boards without dust jackets.

Ernest Hemingway makes an appearance to help out, but winds up in as much trouble as a man on the wrong end of a rhino.

Toby Peters again finds himself in the company of the famous, trying to sort out their troubled lives. This time, Bela Lugosi is receiving death threats and employs Peters. In addition, Peters is brought in to clear the name of William Faulkner, who is accused of murder.

Signed presentation copy from author Garson Kanin to Harry Horner, the production designer of the 1950 movie version of Born Yesterday: “For Harry Horner, with a kiss from Garson, NYC 1950.” In a distinguished career, Harry Horner won two Academy Awards for Best Production Design for his work on The Heiress (1949) and The Hustler (1961). Additionally, he was the the production designer for such films as A Double Life, They Shoot Horses Don’t They?, Separate Tables, etc. The book was the basis of the delightful motion picture of the same name directed by George Cukor starring Judy Holliday, William Holden and Broderick Crawford, which was a success both commercially and artistically. In 2012, the film was added to Library of Congress' National Film Registry, a list of significant American films selected for preservation.
