Part of John Murray's Wisdom of the East series, a project which ran for over 50 years. The series aimed 'by means of the best Oriental literature - its wisdom, philosophy, and ideals - to bring together West and East in a spirit of mutual understanding.' This long poem gives the tale of a roving cloud travelling across India, 'charged with the message of a young lover.'.

Baron Moynihan is an Olympic medallist, prominent Conservative MP, being the Minister for Sport under Mrs Thatcher, and the Chairman of the British Olympic Association.

A novel about the Spirit Lake Massacre of 1857. From the library of Clement Attlee (Prime Minister of the United Kingdom 1945-1951), and his wife Violet. .

Publisher's blue cloth stamped in white and gilt to spine and upper. All edges red. Gentle even toning to endpapers and margins, with a hint of light spotting to preliminaries, otherwise internally clean. Heavy wear to cloth. Spine very heavily worn and toned; titles largely obscured. A fair copy for reading or rebinding.

Near fine. By the film and video editor more recently responsible for two episodes of Charlie Brooker's 'Black Mirror,' as well as the film 'Black Mirror: Bandersnatch' (2018).

With a frontispiece portrait and illustration of Keats' life-mask, as well as three facsimile title-pages. Contemporary green half-calf, borders gilt-ruled, green cloth over boards. Gilt titles, gilt tooling, and raised bands to spine. Decorative endpapers, top edge gilt. Margins toned, faint spotting to prelims and rear blanks. A few leaves still unopened. Sunning to calf, especially to spine. Gentle edgewear. Very good. Edited by Keats scholar and infamous forger Harry Buxton Forman - who with accomplice Thomas James Wise forged many 19th century first editions, their most famous being Elizabeth Barrett Browning's 'Reading Sonnets.' This edition was published by the OUP 27 years before the pair were exposed.

The revised edition, with three additional letters which were unearthed following the publication of the second edition.

Publisher's file copy signified by an ink stamp to title page and paper labels to the upper board and front panel of the dust-wrapper. Slight dustiness to edges, otherwise internally fine. Dust-jacket shows wells, small damp mark to base of rear panel, some surface loss to the bottom left of the upper panel, a few marks, light chipping to top edge. Very good.

Near fine. 'Lake Wobegon Days' is a chronicle of the imaginary Mist Country which is located in the middle of the state. 'Filled with warmth, humour, and tenderness' it is an 'unforgettable portrait of small-town America. This edition is the first Faber Library edition.

Slightly scuffed and rounded to corners, some light wear to front panel and some fairly inoffensive soiling, a very good copy of a fragile production. Internally clean save for some soiling to the pastedown and flyleaf. A small treatise on the rules of progressive and draw poker from the first few decades of the draw's adoption into the game.

All edges speckled brown. Plate of Bridge at Constantine bound in facing p.1272. Plate facing p.1359 shows a neat repair to a 12cm tear. Spotting to endpapers, frontispiece and facing leaves; otherwise a lovely crisp, clean copy. Light wear and bumping to binding. Near fine.

Occasional internal spotting; spotting to endpapers and edges of textblock, closed tear to rear panel of dust-jacket, minor toning to jacket spine, jacket a little frayed at head of spine. Very good. Kemal's novel is one of survival of a Turkish population aiming to reach the cotton fields; this is the first in The Wind of the Plains trilogy. Kemal was nominated for the Nobel Prize for Literature and is considered one of Turkey's most influential writers, he was also part of the Turkish Workers' Party.

Publisher's burgundy cloth with gilt titles and decoration to spine and upper. With the colour-illustrated dust-jacket, not priced. Quite heavily toned, as expected, to low grade paper stock. Spine somewhat dulled, otherwise a lovely crisp, clean copy showing only a little light wear to jacket edges. A best-selling Bohemian novel set in the Tyrol, first published in 1924.

Interior clean with moderate toning throughout. Ownership inscription in black ink to flyleaf. Edges toned, some dust damage to top. Spine a tad sunned. Slight wear to binding extremities, lower board gently bumped. Very good. As Walt Whitman's close friend and perhaps his greatest fan, William Sloane Kennedy wrote many studies on the poet, including 'Reminiscences of Walt Whitman with Extracts from His Letters and Remarks on His Writings.' This book however, which Sloane considered his most important work, is an in-depth analysis on 'Leaves of Grass,' covering its public reception, the many edits it went through, and some clarifying interpretations of the poem's more difficult sections.

Contents very clean, Japanese ink chop and inscription to endpapers, spine sunned, gilt rubbed from same. Generally near fine. An especially rare publication, with no copies appearing in global library searches. This collection of Kennedy's speeches was published on 15th November, exactly one week before the President's assassination. The speeches were assembled to appeal to the Japanese market by Edwin Oldfather Reischauer (1910-1990), the eminent Japanologist, respected American educator, and U.S. Ambassador to Japan (1961-66) who was personally appointed by Kennedy.
