New York: William Morrow & Co. , Inc., 1955 An ex library book in very good condition, has black magic marker marks on page 3 and very back board. Tight binding and nice cover. The ship's captain was amazed to find he had a silkey Siamese cat with bright blue eyes as a stowaway, and the cook was delighted. He took good care of Yala, who soon proved herself a real ship's cat, even catching rats in the hold. Then a violent storm on the return voyage from South America sank the ship off the Carolina coast, and Yala struggled through the breakers to the beach. Dripping and terrified, she ran from the sea and roamed the woodland, searching for a warm and comfortable spot in which to have the babies she was expecting.
