The body of the book has numerous black and white illustrations, some of them full-page, by Robinson. Original pictorial green cloth binding, with a front panel stamped in white and gold. The spine panel is darkened. The top of the text block is still with the original green staining, and the leading edge and bottom edge is left untrimmed. This was the first illustrated edition, the poetry only collection being first published in 1913. Includes a selection of charming poems dealing with witches and fairies. Cloth covered binding has firm undamaged corners but the rear panel has some staining. Title page is darkened from the tissue guard pertinent to the colour illustration opposite, as usual with such issues. A very pleasing and collectable copy of a charming book. Limited to 500 copies on English hand-made paper, with the original imitation slip loose laid. A gorgeous book inside a repaired and fragmented jacket. The jacket has been backed with paper and the whole is contained in a mylar sheath. The front has insignificant losses - nothing 'live' is missing - but the spine is hardly there. Title and author with the publisher name, but that is all. The rear panel of the jacket is blank. The two turnover flaps are the best part of the jacket, complete and still with the price. Slipcase has an attractive wrap around paper label fixed on the outside. The book is bound in calf skin leather on the spine with an indented area for the handsome black and gold title label, which is made of skiver leather and is inset. The leather wraps around to the cover boards, which have twelve drawings on the front and back. Issued without a jacket, this is in great if not perfect condition; the spine leather is a little scuffed. Attractive full page colour illustrations, and chapter vignettes, by Raymond F. Houlihan, who has signed this copy on the limitation page at the back of the book. This is copy number 1260 of 2000 subscription only copies. Blackie & Son London Not the greatest example I'm sure, but this is a very rare book in any condition at all. This brilliant book, with vivid first edition quality colour reproductions, is still wonderful for the collector. It has been well loved, but also well used. No marks on the plates. Glossy Pictorial Cover is inset with an illustration but it is a bit damaged, and the cloth spine is weak. Inside are thirty six coloured illustrations by the wonderful Frank Adams, and all the plates are superb, reproduced splendidly on good quality smooth art paper. Some foxing to endpapers and title page because of the different quality of paper. Some loose pages and edge rubbing. BUT - this is a very rare volume indeed.
