Tokyo: 晶文社 Shōbunsha, 1972. Hardcover. 228 pg. hardcover in dust jacket with protective plastic covering, the covering split, the book very good. Originally published as Die Schwache Position Der Literatur. Very good condition. Only one copy in OCLC, none in the US. Hans Erich Nossack was a German writer and translator. He witnessed the bombing of Hamburg, and wrote The End after this experience. Nossack was persecuted by the Nazis on account of his political beliefs and was unable to have his work published during their reign.

San Jose: The Center, 1983. Four issues of the monthly newsletter, 11p. each, including covers, 8.5x11 inches, heavy stock, very good condition. January-April 1995. The DeFrank Center is named after Billy DeFrank, the stage name of William Price (1936-1980), an African-American and prominent 1970s gay rights activist and a member of the Bay Area's drag community. The Billy DeFrank Lesbian and Gay Community Center opened on March 1, 1981.

Leafing through we noticed a reference to hasheesh (p.21, as "hachish"), also mandragora, and perhaps other mind-numbing veggies. - FYI, a pirated edition was issued one year later in an abbreviated text (3 long poems only), its title pluralized with an "s" tacked on to "Definition.

Haaland was a native of Minnesota, active in the Non-Partisan League in Montana where he was elected to the state House of Representatives. At the time of writing he was a farmer and state chair of the North Dakota Communist Party.

Jerusalem: The Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, 1969. Pamphlet. 29p. (text & tables) + XIX (plates both diagrammatic and photographic), large sewn pamphlet in plain printed 10.5x7 inch wraps. Cover bears an ownership signature and a few mild smudges, inside find booksellers' marks on first blank, a very good copy. The lower pleistocene of the Central Jordan Valley; the excavations at 'Ubeidiya, 1960-1963, directed by M. Stekelis. The species vary from gerbils to giraffes, hippos and horsies, lots and lots of teeth.

Exhibited works were all dioramas, or landscapes in boxes, that often show conflicts between nature and humanity. Includes a curious section of statements on Haber made by other artists, with testimonials by William Anthony, Lynda Benglis, Nancy Holt, Lowell Nesbitt, William Schwedler, Ed Shostak, Sylvia Sleigh, Marjorie Strider, and Michelle Stuart. Introduction by Sheila K. Tabakoff. Essay by Alex Gildzen. Haber is a painter, sculptor, and rare book dealer.

Hardcover. xiv, 96p., illustrations, personal inscription to poet/activist George Oppen signed by Haberman, light foxing on covers and slightly heavier foxing on jacket otherwise a very good first edition in cloth and unclipped dj. George Oppen, the inscribee, was a poet who was influential in getting Ezra Pound and William Carlos Williams published. He was also a member of the Communist Party, USA, was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge, fled the US to Mexico in the 1950s to avoid being called before HUAC and upon his return to California won the Pulitzer Prize in 1969. He died in 1984.

Dacca: Bureau of Economic Research, University of Dacca, 1968. hardbound in 8.5x5.5 inch plain printed white boards with green cloth backstrip and dust jacket; boards slightly discolored (from binder's glue, we think) and the dj, of very fragile paperstock, is edgeworn and has been repaired in several places with clear tape. Front free endpaper bears the donation stamp of the University, an else unmarked nice copy.

Atlanta: Union Song Book Company, [192-?]. Pamphlet. 48p. staplebound booklet, tiny corner chip to front cover, otherwise very good. Tract based on lectures delivered by the author. Haboush described himself in promotional materials as "a Galilean by birth, a Lebanese by blood, a Syrian by race, a Christian by faith and an American by adoption." The son of a shepherd, he immigrated to the US around the age of 12, converted to Protestant Christianity, and undertook lecture tours (often dressed in Galilean clothing which was described as similar to that of Biblical times). One of his favorite lecture themes was the 23rd Psalm.
