OCLC shows no holdings, but University of Kansas has a similar item from 1937. Contains a history of the Ranch in addition to a catalog of the bulls. Robert Harmon Hazlett was an early convert to Hereford cattle and became one of the most prominent breeder in the United States. He purchased land in Kansas and Nebraska in the early 1880s and came to Eldorado, Kansas in 1885. He was active in mining in Leadville, Colorado and took the money from that venture and invested it in further land purchases in Kansas. See Kansas: A Cyclopedia of State History III, part 1, p. 547: "In 1898 Mr. Hazlett made his first purchase of pedigreed Herefords. A lover of fine stock, his purchase was from a desire to have, in a small way, a breeding establishment, where he could, during his… Read More

[Mexican War] Captain Dan Drake Henrie. Autograph letter, signed, folded into a stampless cover with wax seal to General J. M. McCalla. Nashville, TN., May, 19, 1848. One sheet folded into 4 leaves, 2 leaves of text, postmarked May 20th, Nashville. 8 x 10 in. Split at fold with minor edge chip, else very good.
An interesting letter concerning two Generals who were in Nashville, Tennessee. The letter references General Pillow's trouble with General Scott and the activities of their Whig opponents ("Taylor men") in an extended horse metaphor (reins, traces, etc.). He also asks for help regarding his bill in Congress, mentioning his exploit that was no doubt the basis for the bill. H.R. 363, a bill for the Relief of Captain Dan Drake Henrie was passed Jan 22, 1849. An interesting glimpse of the politics after the Mexican War by a Texas Ranger and hero of the Mexican War.
Captain Dan Drake Henrie was a former Texas Ranger who fought during the Mexican American War and narrowly escaped capture by the… Read More

"The Dutch, then allied with England and the Empire to place a Habsburg successor on the Spanish throne, faced Louis XIV of France and a large part of the Spanish population, who advocated a Bourbon king, Philip V of Anjou. This context of peninsular wars would explain the interest of Dutch subjects in the affairs of Spain and the Indies, especially since these Dutch translations emphasize the bloodiest side of the conquest, so they would serve perfectly to emphasize the danger of an alliance of Spaniards. and French before the inhabitants of Holland." "The experiences of a New Mexico cowboy, written by a man who later became Governor of the state. A very rare book. Said to have been issued in an edition of only thirty-five copies." -- Adams. "One of the rarest of all pamphlets on ranching. Only 35 copies were printed, ... However, Dudley Dobie stated in a 1981 book catalogue that Gov. Hinkle had told him that 300 copies were printed, although none were sold. The rarity of the item in the marketplace would support the smaller number. It is possible, of course, that the bulk of a larger edition was destroyed. Hinkle was for a time Governor of New Mexico (1923-25), and was long a prominent rancher in southwest New Mexico.
