An unusually crisp, clean and sharp copy of the English first printings with no markings. Internally very clean and appears unread. Externally very faint foxing to the base of the bookblock. The scarce jacket is very bright with only two very small tears, noticeable only on close examination. The posthumous material are arranged by Lawrebce's biographer, Edward McDonald. A well-produced volume.

The Well of Loneliness (1928) was the first modern novel to describe the feelings and desires of a member of the third sex. Based in part on the author, Radclyffe Hall's own experiences – a female whom had relationships with woman, but dressed as a male and was known as "John", it concerned Stephen a girl who is a lesbian, but brought up as a boy. Hall was known in London literary circles and was published to some acclaim by Jonathan Cape. However, in August 1928 the Home Secretary – a Christian fundamentalist – was persuaded that the book was profane. He banned the book from sale. Cape made secret arrangements with a French publisher, Pegasus Press, for the book to be sold in France. But on 3 October a warrant was issued for Customs and Excise to seize and destroy the books crossing the channel. An obscenity trial followed on 9 November and found that that all books be destroyed. Michael Hartland is a pseudonym. It real life he was a spy master going up the ladder after being recruited at Cambridge. This is his fifth novel and concerns a spy ring run by the Chinese who pose a threat to the democratic movement (underground). An interesting book set in the future.

It is one of 75 signed and numbered copies. It also features an Appreciation by Eric Homberger, who considers Hartland's place in the spy fiction tradition. Spy writer Ted Allbeury also has an Appreciation. The book is new from stock.

This is the very limited - one of 15 copies - of the Scorpion limited edition. It has an upgraded binding with goatskin leather with five raised bands. It is also signed by all three writers - Hartland and Eric Hombeger and Ted Allbeury - who contributed Appreciations.

The book is as new in all respects. It carries both the autograph of Hiaasen and Maxim Jakuboeski, author of the two page Appreciation. A nice collectible.

A well written and authoritative history of the Medici family, a family that embodied the Italian Renaissance. 364 pp extensive index. First edition. The book is sound with the only fault being slight spotting to foreedge. The jacket has the price of £4.95 and has only slight imperfections - minor creasing at the top and bottom of the front panel. Overall, a good copy of an important book.

This is award-winning Reginald Hill's second crime novel. It is a story of walkers in Cumbria who and mistaken for rapists by the police. One gets away and must prove his innocence. Although published under the Collins Crime Club imprint the jacket blurb points to this being a novel, and that the author has the skills of a novelist.The book is clean with no inscriptions or marks. The only defect is some light fox marks to fore edge. Light wear to the jacket base of spine o/w clean, bright with no tears. Laid in is a hand written postcard from Reginald Hill and signed Reg, dated 18/8/05.

A cunning Dalziel and Pascoe novel that keeps the reader guessing. The question posed is Patrick Aldermann a fiendishly clever murderer? The books pages are age toned, but square and tight with no marks or inscriptions. Slight wear to the jacket on top right corner o/w nice and clean. Remains of a sticker to the top jacket flap on front. Laid in is a postcard from the author written in his hand: "Dear Michael, Glad you liked the piece. Enclosed are the signed pages. Best, Reg.". Dated 20/2/02.

Richard Hoggart was an academic and a social activist. His seminal work, The Uses of Literacy, was a study of working class culture. He then founded the Centre for Cultural studies at the University of Birmingham. He left to become director of UNESCO in Paris, France. This study looks in depth at the organisation's strengths and weaknesses.

This copy is reasonable for its age. It is clean inside with no marks, but has a dusty top edge and a bit of foxing. The jacket has a spine fade and has evidence on the inside flaps of discolouration. However, signed copies are notably scarce.

Michael Holroyd, husband to novelist Margaret Drabble is a noted biographer. This the compete set of four volumes. all first editions and printings of his work on playwright and socialist George Bernard Shaw. The books are unread and in fine condition except for slight scuffing of the jackets near the top and corners. The books were signed at the Hay Literary Festival some years ago.
