A nineteenth century binding; front hinge fully cracked, but holding well; shelfwear; remnants of a number label on the top of the spine. Quarter brown leather over marbled paper boards, with lettering and decorative rules stamped in gilt on the spine. All edges speckled blue. Very Good binding.

The authors admit that "a rather novel arrangement of material has been made." There are some preliminary materials to provide perspective and set the stage, but the body the work is given up to a virtually undigested patchwork of original accounts, most of them from the Federal viewpoint."~~ (Krick 380).
