A 16 page booklet in the publisher s original printed glossy card covers. Only 1000 copies were printed (of which 50 were special casebound copies). The book has been inscribed by Seamus Heaney on the title page : 'Seamus Heaney, For Wes Magee , Swindon, March 1977'. The recipient Wes Magee, was a fellow poet and children s author. This, Seamus Heaney's third book of poetry contains 7 early poems. The booklet was produced after 'Death of a Naturalist' and before 'Door into Dark' was issued. The book is protected in a loose Mylar archival cover and housed in a custom box. Very scarce to find this title signed by the Nobel Laureate author. I can find no other signed copies presently available in commerce, and it appears that only a handful have appeared as such, at auction in the last 30 years. Collectible. More images… Read More

A small booklet in original orange card covers with printed titling in black. 8 pages with sewn binding. The BOOK is in near Fine condition with just a hint of creasing at the edges and corners. 'The text comprises sections 74-75 of the subsequently published 'Sweeney Astray'. The narration (section 74) was revised for Sweeney Astray''(Brandes & Durkan AA11). The limitation does not state that this title was signed by the author on issue but this book has been double signed by Seamus Heaney : In black ink to the title page and also signed (without dedication) and also in blue ink at the end of the text. A very scarce publication, the first I have handled. Only one copy has appeared at auction and JSIC lists no copies held at institutions. Printed on the occasion of the author s reading for the Raymond Danowski Poetry Library Reading Series, Emory University, 2 March 2013. This Broadsheet is number '19' of only 250 issued. It does not state that this was signed on issue but this broadsheet has been signed (without dedication) by Seamus Heaney in pencil below the poem. From what I have been able to research to date, it seems highly likely that Seamus Heaney actually signed less that 30 copies of this broadsheet (numbers higher than this that have appeared to date in e- commerce, have been unsigned). A 4 verse poem. The Broadsheet measures 57 x 19cm and is in near Fine condition, printed on handmade paper by the Bow and Arrow Press. The broadsheet is not creased or folded. A handsome production with a blue graphic design utilising the last 4 words of the poem. Very scarce to find signed by the Nobel Laureate with no copies having appeared at auction.
