Mira Calligraphiae Monumenta, Malibu: Getty Museum, 1992. 12mo, facsimile of a 16th-century manuscript, pp. x, 412, brown cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine and gilt lettering and calligraphic decoration on front, slipcased, color illustration. Model Book of Calligraphy was written by the scribe Bocskay in 1561-62 and illuminated by Hoefnagel 30 years later with flowers, insects and other images of the natural world. He added an alphabet, bringing the total number of pages to 150. They are reproduced here in the original size. The rest of the book is made up of essays by 2 experts on the manuscript.
