Map locates waterways, roads, trails, campsites, corrals, hostels, railways, settlements, and other useful information for the prospective visitor.

Moab, UT: Lin Ottinger Tours, 1972. Map. Single sheet [43 cm x 28.5 cm] that folds to pamphlet size [21.5 cm x 9.5 cm] Printed on both sides with folds as issued. Near fine. One side prints a map of Canyonlands and pinpoints a variety of locations in the separate areas of the Park (Island in the Sky - Needles - Maze) and the trails and roads that crisscross the area. The reverse prints descriptions of Lin Ottinger's legendary tours of the area with rates. "Canyonlands National Park encompasses a vast area and is surrounded on all sides by country of astonishing beauty. The map encompasses most of the Park, plus some of the outstanding country adjacent to it. The park boundary is not shown because it has no meaning as far as scenic values are concerned.

The territorial boundaries and counties have been hand tinted and the map is within a decorative printed border. Colors are bright. Minor age toning to extremities with a few small nicks. A nicely colored county map of the territory of Utah and the state of Nevada that locates the (unfinished) U.P. / Central Pacific line, California Trail, Hasting's Cutoff and Gunnison's route. Kane County is shown but not Piute, Sevier or Rich. Green River County is located within Utah (Wyoming was established in 1868). Camp Floyd is labeled 'Camp Crittendon.' History of this central Wyoming area, that is profusely illustrated throughout with black and white images and maps. Located at 5,150 feet above sea level, on the banks of the North Platte River on Wyoming's high plains, Casper is the seat of Natrona County. The town began when the tracks of the Fremont, Elkhorn & Missouri Valley Railroad arrived in June 1888, and was named for nearby Fort Casper, by then a ruin.

I think it is quite clear that nothing in the existing literature compares with his reminiscences." - Dale Morgan. In addition to reprinting Gardiner's work, Morgan compiled a substantial introduction consisting of a bibliographic essay on the northern mines and correspondence concerning the original publication of the reminiscences. Signed by the editor on the title page. Goodell's letters open a new window on the dedicated frontier theocracy that believed it was destined to sweep to world dominion. They also reflect the militant attitude of the young millennial movement toward the American republic during its transition from the provisional State of Deseret, an independent nation-state created by Brigham Young in 1849, to a territory of the United States with the unwanted name of Utah.

Nice views of the Temple Block, Utah State Capitol, Memory Grove, Cathedral of the Madeline, Kingsbury Hall, Liberty Park, East High, and the Country Club. Rare in this condition.

Promotional poster for the Southern California Timing Association's annual speed week on the Bonnevile Salt Flats. Known for hosting land-speed record attempts, the Bonneville Salt Flats are a geological and geographical wonder. Located near the shared border of Nevada and Utah in Tooele County, Utah and spanning 30,000 acres, this salt pan is a remnant of the ancient Lake Bonneville.

[Provo, UT]: [Brigham Young University], 1976. Map [39 cm x 46 cm] / [15.5" x 18] on tan stock and printed in brown ink. Nice condition. Map locating the known mountain men fur trade rendezvous sites in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming between in 1845 and 1860. Presumably produced at the same time as Gowans' standard work on the subject 'Rocky Mountain Rendezvous: A History of the Fur Trade Rendezvous 1825-1840,' with parts of this map printed throughout. The rendezvous was one of the most interesting developments of the fur trade in the Rocky Mountains. It arose from the necessity of carrying the trade into regions remote from navigable rivers, where boats were unable to transport merchandise west or return to the east with furs. The transportation was done by annual caravans from the east, with the rendezvous sites picked for their convenience for the trappers, traders, and Native Americans. We are unable to locate any institutional holdings of this map.

"Marking its 21st year of operation - and noted as California's foremost family resort. Dodge Ridge is the fun resort to ski.

Street guide for Salt Lake that begins with a brief list of traffic laws for the city, which is followed by 57 pages that lists every street (alphabetically) and offers coordinates for each. The remainder of this guide has sections for Apartments, Hotels, Public Buildings and Halls, Colleges and Schools, Bridges over the Jordan River, Cemeteries, Churches, Automobile Dealers, Clubs, Fire Stations, Hospitals, Parks, Airports, Libraries, Theaters, Bus stations, Railroad Stations, and Streetcar Stations. Each section is arranged alphabetically with coordinates given for each. Local advertisement on the covers and sporadically throughout. Rare in this nice condition.
