Edges untrimmed with some browning and chipping to the edges of the frontispiece and title. Tiny hole p3. Occasional minor dogears, marks and smudges. Two subscription library stamps each to verso of the map and frontispiece with faint offsetting. George Gardner (1810 – 1849) F.L.S. was born in Ardentinny, Argyll and Bute, where his father was gardener to the Earl of Dunmore. His travels in Brazil between 1836 and 1841 were undertaken under the patronage of John Russell, 6th Duke of Bedford and collaboration with Sir William J.
