Fine, though with the usual binding problems (see comments). The Special Extra-Illustrated Leatherbound Edition. One of only sixty copies issued and the first Superior sale issued in a deluxe edition with photographic plates. Superiorís binder seemed inadequate to the task of preparing these special editions; as nice as the photographic plates are, they are almost never bound properly in this sale. New York: Conducted by Joseph B. Stack and T.J. Muldoon, 1952. Catalogue No. 14. 8vo, original printed card covers with overlapping fore-edges. 43, (5) pages; 447 lots; 16 halftone plates. Covers spotted; near fine. Quite rare. This catalogue was virtually unknown until the systematic researches of Martin Gengerke uncovered a copy in the American Numismatic Society Library. Stack's Galleries was a subsidiary of the main firm and was intended to handle antiquities and related material. This seems to be the only one of its catalogues to include coins. The last five pages of text comprise 66 lots of coins (lots 382-447 inclusive), about equally divided among Greek and Roman coins, and the last three plates (XIV-XVI) depict both sides of 19 Greek and 11 Roman coins.
